Guys,

I currently have a Caterham Supersport (1.6 sigma) with no cat and a peashooter exhaust. I love the sound of it, but the previous owner said it was c.105db which is too loud for a lot of the tracks.

After owning the car since X-mas I am finally looking at getting it out on the track but need to reduce the noise. I know I can't use the Caterham track day rear exhaust as thats for the 2.0l cars but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what to fit and the cost involved?

Thanks as always for the help

Ed

Raceco seem to have a very good rep.

My 140 is on the standard Roadsport exhaust and was measured at 91db at Abingdon a couple of months back. Seems bloody loud to me, I can't imagine wanting it any louder!

When I had mine tested at Caldwell it was only 108db.....suppose that's why the Mrs. can hear me coming.....

Just buy a standard Sigma Roadsport silencer, low 90s db and relatively inexpensive. They aren't meant to be repackable, mine lasted 5 years and 25000 miles before it started getting louder, but I did manage to repack it biggrin

If it's only for track days, call Caterham and ask if they have a "used" standard exhaust kicking around the workshop you could buy. I picked up one which was slightly dented by the previous owner at their parts bin sale at the Easter open day for £20! Put it on for trackdays and take it off when I'm home.
