Note that the 5 speed boxes are quoted with a (Sierra) 3.92 diff whereas the 6 speed is shown with the 3.64 BMW diff, so it's a bit misleading. Perhaps someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that cars now come with the 3.64 diff, so the 5 speeders are around 20% higher geared in "top" than the 6 speeder.

not sure abut heater ? i don't have one in my Suffolk C type and have large heat soak. Does the Duratec provide the same?
Heater is nice to have on a cold day on the move, when you stop though it does get a bit warm, there is heat reflective film on the tunnels now as well as carpet on the transmission tunnel so the heat soak is not too bad. Lowered floors are nice but again not needed I have the big brakes too but I don't know that they are needed either.

OK, 5 speeds are still supplied with a 3.9 diff ratio.

Thanks Mike. I am likely to drive this over winter unlike some 'fun' cars I have had. So heater makes sense.

So is that the Sierra diff? My understanding was that since Ford stopped making it, it had become unacceptably noisy. I did read on another post from a guy who had ordered a 420 that they came with a 3.64 (BMW) diff regardless of whether they were 5 or 6 speed. That said I notice that Academy car regulations stipulate 3.92 - so I assume that is the Sierra unit that they are still using. Unfortunately the Caterham website is completely unclear about what options were available - but I specifically asked about 2 1/2 years ago and could then have ordered a (then current) 140 Sigma with a 3,64.

There are only 2 options available in the main range - 5 speed with a 3.9 and 6 speed with a 3.6. These are both BMW diffs.
