At least one of the early failures was down to user error. Very hot sticky tyres, track day and a block change gone wrong. Not sure who was the user was, but the engine went significantly beyond the rev limiter and hence exploded. There were early problems and Caterham upgraded all the early engines to the new spec FOC with better bearings etc.

Serves them right if they were trying to replace a major engine component whilst driving along!

I agree : Pah!
Christmas Eve, -6 deg C, foggy .... commuted to work
Use as much as possible to commute... so Yes, daily driver.

Cold - can be
Damp - Yes (it's raining as I write this ... drive home to enjoy later with roof up and ear plugs and damp bits!)
Silly - I do not give a 4 X for anyone who thinks they are Silly. Any one who does thinks this is allowed their opinion, anyone who says it out loud should get a life.

Driving Caterhams can lead to the urge to piss your trousers in an uncontrolable fashion
The best upgrade for your Caterham is a Westfield

and this one from J Clarkson of Chipping Norton:

You can't go shopping in a Caterham because of the speed humps
