I want to convert my 1700 X-flow to contactless ignition but will have to keep the Lucas distributor. The previous owner bought a Bosch distributor only to find it fouled the inlet manifold and could not be fitted. I think I will have to restrict the cost to a magnetic system. Any recommendations?

Speak to Aldon Automotive in Brierley Hill. From memory they used to supply the systems to Caterham for running on the Xflow cars. Also as an aside, they have a good rolling road set up and set up my Sprint very well. Their website is http://www.aldonauto.co.uk

Thanks for the info. I have another question. The dizzy is nicely hidden by the inlet manifold for the two Weber DCOE 40s. I cannot even see any model numbers on it only the word "Lucas". It looks like I will need to take the manifold off before I can even order the kit. I presume the manifold is water cooled so I will have to drain off some coolant. Are there any neat tricks to get round this? I am worried about air locks when I refill.
