R300

some would argue all the caterham you ever need, for road or track

round my way where its pretty busy and built up, i'd maybe opt for a classic

narrower tyres, lower power... you get to use more of the performance more of the time and that means much more satisfaction.

I think you'd struggle to get a R300 for 15k. You could get a very tidy Superlight for that though, not that i'm biased of course.. biggrin

regular size k-series superlight spec (with or without screen according to taste) is the best caterham ever!

A Roadsport K Series weighs about 550kg, a Superlight would weigh anything from 520kg to 500kg depending on spec, e.g windscreen or aeroscreen, Tillet seats or S type seats, heater or no heater. Spec wise the Superlight has widetrack suspension, adjustable platforms, upgraded front brakes with 4 pot calipers,LSD, 6 speed 'box, carbon wings, noseconse, dash and the Supersport engine upgrade(remap and different cams) as standard. The Supersport 1.6 is 135bhp, the 1.8 is 140bhp.

HTH biggrin

Thanks Piers and Bert - seems like SUperlight is the best option then. Caterham have one for £15k.

Scott

If you mean the Viper blue one that's up for £14,995, that's my old car that I built in 1999 and px'd with them in the autumn against an R500

Mail me through the forum if you are seriously interested and I can tell you all about the car - there is nothing to hide, I just wanted more power!
