Having seen this advert in one of the Kit mags......

I yesterday phoned CC to try and determine exactly what this kit contains.

Regrettably, they have failed to provide the info I need.

Each time I phone I get put through to someone who apparently only wants to talk to someone ready to buy a new R500.

Can anyone here give me an idea of which other MAJOR components are required please.

I know Engine and box, wheels and tyres etc, but its things like uprights and shocks/dampers I need to know. The advert is pretty basic tbh.

TIA.

I'm sure you'll be able to download all the info from Caterham's website, but if not take a look on Blatchat here.

From memory it is what you see in the pic and the ticks to the right of the advert.

I believe you get a plumbed in fuel tank and I'm not sure about instruments.

Seats, Heater, Windscreen, Gearbox, Engine, Wheels, Rear Axle, Suspension, Brakes are all additional items.

The ad has been in Lowflying the last couple of months. There was another thread on blatchat saying it had got published before the offering had been totally finalised. The old starter kit leaflet dissappeared from the CC website around the same time.

Thats the impression Im getting from Caterham TBH.

The wording is very vague I think.

The information you require is below. I am just in the process of finalising an R400 spec kit, buying everything from Caterham apart from the engine and Diff.

Caterham are being very helpful, but the guy in the know is on his holidays at the moment.

Fuel tank and instruments are not in the basic kit and are at additional cost.

It's a shame they have dropped the fuel tank, it was one of the points they used to make that all safety related items such as brake lines, fuel lines and fuel tank were included. Why do i also think it included the wiring originally????

Just to clarify - the Starter kit is a different spec to the 'rolling chassis' that has been advertised.

Starter kit gets dash, clocks, switches, wiring loom, pedal assembly, brakes lines, fuel tank, fuel pump but NO arches, nosecone, suspension, brakes etc etc.

As far as I can make out the 'rolling chassis' doesn't get clocks or switches, no wiring loom, no fuel tank or fuel pump so all the 'saftey' bits are left out. You do get all the suspension inc uprights, calipers, composite parts but strangely enough, when I called I was told the wheels and tyres were not included - so that'll be the 'drag it by the brake discs' chassis then?
