Had my new toy for a week now and decided to drop the oil and replace the filter. Original oil pressure 2 bar at idle hot, 4 - 5 bar above idle hot. Believe original oil to be Caterhams own. Now running Mobil 1 15/50 as recommended by Minister. New UFI filter replaced previous UFI filter. Oil pressure cold at idle is now around 3.5 - 4 bar, hot at idle just over 2 bar. So I guess thats the stiffer oil when cold? I take it easy until oil temp is up to 70+. Oil pressure when up to this temp and pressing on is nudging 7.5 bar which is quite a bit more than I seemed to get on Caterhams brew ,Is this to high?? I'm worried about blowing a seal somewhere??? What pressure is to much on these engines. (Engines done about 1200 miles)

Mobil 1 seems better at maintaining pressure when up to temp but is this to high?????

Oh, and there pretty nippy are they not! What a car!!

I'm running a Duratec and have noticed quite a lot of difference between oils - even manufactures of the same grade. It's not a Cosworth engine, so may be adjusted differently but I get just over 2 at idle and 7 on the road and about 5-6 on the track with 5w50. With 5w30 it is about 0.5-1 bar lower and idle is below 2.

If it is a new car, Caterham may have been using Ford 5w30 (that's what they used to recommend and supplied with my car). IMHO 15w50 may be fine for track but might make warm-up a bit tedious for road use.
