Anyone have some advice for the basic tools (in what sizes) I should take with me at all times?
I'm trying to minimalise the usefull tools for small fixes on the Caterham if it breaks down on the way.

Anyone that doesn't take anything with him? I allready needed to borrow some tools two times, so I find this hard to believe. biggrin

Enough to change a clutch cable! a couple of flat & cross head screwdrivers, an adjustable spanner, perhaps some normal pliers (long nose) and some gaffer tape and cable ties should see you right! I'd also consider a (say) 3' length of decent amperage flex with crocodile clips on the end.

Personally, I'd duct tape a spare clutch cable somewhere to the car. I've had 2 go in random places, but have luckily had spares with me.

I have a basic tool kit and a socket set behind the seats in my 7. If going touring I'll take spare clutch & throttle cables and alternator & dry sump belts too. I've never had anything major fail in 70,000+ miles of 7ing though. Other than that, I have credit card, RAC card and phone wink

Tool roll, socket set, gaffer tape, cable ties. You can get quite a lot of tools in a tool roll, so I do include spanners as well as adjustables.

Ok, I now see gaffer tape, clutch cable and gas cable. I am going to be a bit paranoid now. biggrin
