So I have bought a 2004 academy car that is now up to roadsports A spec.

Mainly to use on the road and a few track days.

So my initial question is can I mix tyres i.e. I have a set of new cr 500's for the front and need a set of 48r's for the rears or visa versa. Is this a really bad idea or should I just bite the bullet and but 4 48r's ?

Thanks
Phib

tyres are 175/55/13's

It's not the worst thing to do in the world. The CR500s and the 48s will probably be of similar grip. However, I would persoanlly go for the same all round for road use. If you are doing fun things on airfields/autotests etc, it can be fun. On the road, one can do without an un-matched front n rear end (ooh er).

Yeah, what BB said, also you can probably get back the cost of your 48's by flogging the CR500's on here or Blatchat.

What's wrong with buying another pair of CR500s? They are easily the best road tyre for a 7 and are OK on track.
