Hello all. Thought I'd give this forum a try. Some of you may know of me from another forum.
I live in Mallorca, a bit of a motorsport vacum, but we do have a track down in the South of the Island, (I'm in T' North) and a Classic Car Rally once a year, so not all bad. Oh, and some great Mountain roads, which are fantastic Blatting roads on those nice sunny winter days, when the tourists have all gone home!
I'm currently building my second Caterham, an all ally SV.
My first car was a factory built R300. (See pic.) The fellow in the picture is not me by the way.

What spec are you going to be building?

Hello Murph, Yes the car will be bare ally. It's not polished yet. I have to collect it from the coachbuilder over there in Blighty, within the next couple of weeks. I'll be doing the build over here, then taking it back, to put it on U.K. plates.
If I keep it on U.K. plates over six months, I can get away with paying some tax on it when I put it on Spanish plates. The chassis is LHD. But I think I'd have a lot of chew getting it directly on Spanish Matriculation!

I really want to put a Hartley H1 into it, with six speed Drenth, or Sadev sequetial, but I have to do some reaserch regarding the certificate of compliance, which I'll need to register it over here. I need to speak to Caterham about that.

It's an expensive, hence long term project. I enjoy engineering.

Hello Dave, Cheers. I don't have any more yet I'm afraid, as I'm not due to pick it up for another couple of weeks.

Stu, I can't I'm afraid, but I'm guessing it's an MG. I'll ask about it next week, and let you know. Maybe take some more pics.

Oh yes! I contacted him when it went up for sale, I think it went for the equivilent of 30k with the exchange rate at the time. But I was too late.

Love the IRS rear.
The IRS rear was one of was one of the things that impressed me with caterham's CSR. I spoke to Bruce at Arch about putting one in for me, but he wasn't keen.
Maybe that's another project for the future, as I'm not too keen on the standard caterham paneling, the way it distorts with the heat.
The fellow who did the nose cone and wings for me, said it was possible to stop that, by putting a very slight curve in the sideskins, to stiffen them up.
So maybe when I get bored, I can do an IRS rear myself, and Geoff can reskin it properly for me.
A long way to go before then though!

Did you also see Sugino's workshop!

There's a bit of black going on my car, I have a full roadsport cage, which will stiffen everything up a bit, also black pack windscreen, aero filler cap is anodized in black.
A bit of carbon too. Dash (with Stack), tunnel top, cockpit sill covers, indicator pods, and carbon kevlar tillets.

Once you have registered the vehicle on U.K. Plates and then transfer onto Spanish registration is no problem provided you have all the homologation papers and log book from the U.K.

Another tip is when you transfer the vehicle onto Spanish plates it would be a good idea if you had a purchase invoice with the purchase cost on it ( written down as in lower than the market value ) because when you transfer the vehicle they will charge you a % of that value before you change the vehicle over.

I have lived in Spain and have changed vehicles quite a lot and unfortunately the islands are the worst place and what also makes it worse is it is in Catalunia and thay are a real pain in the arse ( I live on Ibiza ) and have just transferred a Corvette onto Spanish plates and retained U.K. registration as well.

Thanks KT. I'll drop you a line later, I'm supposed to be working right now.
I can't get a CoC as the car's not factory built, and my chassis is a 2007.
So I could be stuffed! I'm sure there'll be a way around it somehow. After all, we're one big happy Euro family !
I would have thought if the car is registered in a eu country, you should be able to plate it in another eu country.

What the hell, I'm building it anyway.

But as you say, we're in the Islands.
