Currently with MSM with fully comp cover, but don't need road cover until next April. Can anyone recommend an underwriter who is happy to take on laid-up cover. MSM don't seem keen to cover these risks?

Most 7's will be insured on a specialist policy with a limited mileage and the fact that the vehicle is "laid up" or unused for large parts of the year is normally reflected in the premium. If your policy is on this basis with MSM then don't expect a refund.

My MSM policy expires mid Dec. I didn't see any point in paying more than I needed to over the winter for lay-up only cover, hence the query!

My cover for the build period (with no road use and £25,000 cover) was around 60% of my cover now with 5000 miles road use. This was with Footman James so they could be worth a go explaining it will be off the road for major rebuild etc.. you could save a few quid?

But you will miss all the sunny cold mornings smile (and snow, rain, grit)

thanks. How are FJ on declared mods in terms of premium hike?

I'll mainly be missing the winter morning drives due to no engine! hehe

I've found Footman James very good on the multi-car, unlimited mileage policy I've had for a while.

Individually they're not as competitive as MSM for the Caterham alone though.

Have you asked Dave what the lowest mileage he can do on a policy is? The quote will likely get very cheap with very low mileage cover...?
