I managed to pick up some part worn tyres for a good price, just to get the car sat on its wheels, and for ease of transport back up to a workshop that I have managed to rent closer to home recently.
I didn't want to buy new ones, as they would go off before I get to use them.

I have used a local tyre fitter recently to fit tyres to my bike rims. They were recommended as being careful, and until now they've done a good job.

Things didn't go so well on Thursday...

The monkeys managed to bugger my lovely brand new Force racing rims banghead

Here's one of them after they tried bending/smashing it back into shape with a big adjustable, and a hammer....

Viva España! smash

Can anyone recommend a manual tyre changing machine with a bead breaker, that I can buy, that's nice quality? I don`t like the look of the Sealey ones.

O.K. then, calliper adapters/parking brake cable retainers MkIII.
Actuator arms next.
This looks like a work of art, I hope you're going to use a bolt that gives at least 1.5 threads through the self locking and perhaps a washer as well. Please don't take this the wrong way I assume it was just assembled to check the fit

I'll get them rolled straight, there's a company around the corner from where I work that does it. We use them every day for machining, and they are good.
If it can't be done perfect though, obviously I'll get a couple of new outer rims.
I have to get my own tyre machine, that's for sure.

boy, you assumed correctly wink No offence taken.

I have all the bits on my desk right now, for measuring everything up, so I can get the right sized bolts next week.

The censor is a bit sensitive today! I didn't know pike was a bad word confused

Well it all fits smile Sorry about the poor quality pictures...

I'm starting to get a feel for how she's going to look now. The tyres are pretty much the size and profile I'll be using. I think they fill the arches nicely.

Cyclops! I like the smaller headlights. Thought I'd pop one on to see....

I need to have a fiddle about with the handbrake cable when I get a bit of time.
I'll soon have the car closer to home. smile

Cheers,

I'll second that Farlig yesbiggrin

You've only got yourself to blame Mick for building such a beautiful machine and deciding to share the project with us.

Cheers

I had exactly the same problem with my set of Force Racing split rims and i was there as they were fitted by my race engineer who has changed hundreds of split rims by Spectrum. MB, Image, BBS etc , We even heated the tyres but the outer rim still slightly deformed not as badly as yours, They haven't gone through a heat treating hardening process and to be frank the rims are just too thin and very poor quality , This is the first time i have bought a set from Force and the last time , Force Racing specialize in rims for Minis but i don't use them on my Mini Miglia only MB

Force don't actually make the rim, they are outsourced.

I have a set and love them, I had a very minor issue on one rim but that was certainly down to the ham fisted fitter that I could not stop forcing the tyre on with to little soap!

Car is looking stunning, the wheel size and offset looks great. Look forward to seeing on its wheels.. Take some shots when you move it please.

Howdoo! Sorry, been away. Just came back from a cracking boys fortnight in the Isle of Man, for the Manx/classic TT. Rode my Buell up from Mallorca smile Lots of Aloominum to drool over tongue out I digress...

Yes car is on its wheels, and in its (temporary for a couple of years) new home smile

Yes I have re-tiled the floor where I had to remove the wall wink

Thanks for looking,

What kinda tiles have you used - I´m gonna be doing up my garage this summer (hopefully) and thinking about tiling the floor - love the cleanliness but don´t want them to chip too easily when I drop my ratchet / spanner & what have you..?
Also thinking about a simple epoxy finish and rubber / plastic tiles...

I used some spares that were in the place when we rented it.
I think they are porcelain, they're bloody hard! melted a masonry drill I was using!
If I was doing my own place, I'd use epoxy wink
I'm hoping to start building a workshop at home this summer. I've been working away in Italy on a new job since mid November. smile
I've had time to add some more Man art though wink

Sorry about the neck exercise. I don't know why it does that! :/

Yep, experienced the same - we have something like those in the bathroom - I needed a diamond "annular" type drill bore, very slow speed, about 45-60 mins and lots of cooling water per hole - I had to drill 5 holes eek
These were wifey´s expensive tiles though and not what I´d even remotely consider paying to lay on a garage floor!!

Looking more and more like the best solution smile

Not cheap, but very level and shiny smile My second option would be the classic black and white tiles laid in chequer, but they are not easy to find.

Not cheap, but cheaper than porcelain tiles though!! I think I have 25 litres of grey epoxy in storage somewhere that I got cheap from a mate working in the bizz, best laid plans and all that it never happened and I@ve moved twice since... not enough for my current stable...

I love that chequer tile pattern too, but not seen it in "real life" so to speak, only online - I would need to properly eyeball it to decide if I could live with it in a workshop / garage day-to-day basis :P
