Hello People, I have recently bought albeit in pieces a Lotus seven S4 1971
ID S4/3056 gts.
I am just about to start putting it together and I have a million questions but one that is bothering me at the moment is what shocks to use.
is anybody up to date with this maybe someone has fitted some in the past.
Spax do some but they never tell you what springs to use.
I have the old rear ones but no fronts.

I also have an S4 Seven project, and am curious about spring rates and shocks. At present the car has new fixed perch Spax and what appear to be new springs. With the engine and transmission in place, the car sits up in the air, way up in the air, looks silly. My plan is to sell the new Spax and buy.......GAZ? They appear to have a better support network in the USA. I know the rear S4 Seven shocks will fit the Europa. What about the front S4 shocks? Will they fit the S2 Europa or only the S1 Europa? This information will help when shopping for shocks. Anyone want a deal on a set of new Spax fixed perch in the USA? Thank you for the information. Mr.vman in USA

They have Europa S1 dampers. Spax list is here http://www.spaxperformance.com/downloads/SPAX-Clas...

Read down to Lotus 7 S4 and it says
Front either G620 £94.99 or AS G866 £99.99
Rear either G655 £84.99 or G876 £94.99

Cheers,
Josh

After a lot of work my Hispano Alemán Mallorca (Original Lotus Seven S4 Chassis and Body) looks great. This is one of the 50 chassis and bodies sold by Lotus to Ben Heiderich in 1972 (and other original items like sidescreens or windscreen or spare wheel support). My car conserves also the original Lotus 7 S4 suspension in front and rear. It's a Lotus but with a SEAT engine and not a FORD engine.

Hi. I bought a 1972 7S4 t/c a year ago. Unfinished project that needed a general rebuild.

Is this the best site for discussing issues with parts etc?

I have the usual problem of no side window frames. Anyone managed to fabricate these?

Richard

The user 7s4whatelse can help you!!

He and his son did a pair of sidescreens completely in carbonfiber very light and a copy exact to the original. This carbonfiber sidescreens made new look completely original and with the original lock.

If you see the photo of the Hispano Aleman Mallorca (Lotus seven s4 with SEAT engine) can see the sidescreens that 7s4whatelse did for me. His son and him did a perfect work!!

I hope this can help you!

Pedro.

Apologies for not responding earlier to the recent posts. Attached is a photo of my car. The engine has been rebuilt with new rings, bearings and whatever was advisable to replace. I've just collected an exhaust manifold from Redline, along with new bonnet hinges, so hope to make some good progress in the coming months.

Interesting to hear the side window frames can be produced in fiberglass (is this with metal inserts for the window channels?)

Will keep an eye on this website in future.

Regards, Richard

Wondering where 7s4whatelse (Hajo) has been. Have not read any posts from him in some time. 7s4whatelse is the maker of 7 S4 parts we need. I need parts from him. Hope he is well and back doing the Lotus parts again.

I have a complete set of side screens with windows. The Plexiglas is pretty scratched but can easily be replaced. I will get photos tonight and post them.

I'm very interested in your sidescreens. All I have is the lower black plastic sections with catches, and the hinge pins with nylon bushes. The Perspex windows are available from Redline or could easily be made. I am in Nottinghamshire. Where are you?

Thanks Richard

Hello Uglyduck.

Any luck with the S4 window frame photos?

I've just noticed you are in Canada, but that should not be a problem if we can agree a price and shipping cost.

Thanks, Richard

Here are some images of the side screens. The overall condition is quite good. The plastic is even usable, and if a little elbow grease is applied, they can be buffed to like new condition. The fiberglass lower sections are near perfect, includes latch knob and receiver. The left side aluminum frame has been repaired at some point with an aluminum plate bolted to it. This can be rewelded and the frame powder coated to look like new. Both right and left aluminum frames show fading of the anodizing, but that is normal with black anodizing. Excuse the dust on the black panel, it is not scratched.

Hi Lotus 7 S4 enthusiasts! Does anyone know where on a S4 chassis the serial no was stamped? I've been told that it was stamped with a few digits depending on which factory the chassis was manufactured.

Also any '74 Lotus 7 S4 owners on this tread?
