They do look nice in that livery. Sort of cheeky and willing.

Thanks Boss that looks really nice
I think it looks ok without going black pack.

There seems to be a few different Gulf Blue's around, the earlier GT40/ Porsche seem a little darker and the Aston's are much lighter.

I didn't realise it would be so hard to choose

I like the blue and orange on this one

It looks really smart but I wasn't going to do the wings orange, not sure about the stripe yet either, might just have the nose band, any thoughts?

Pics of our Supersport that went back to Caterham when we bought the SV. Was snapped up quickly. Agree with Boss - they look better in the flesh. Everyone loved it especially mefrown

SOme footage here of our Gulf car on the move with our other Supersport - looks better than the pics. I miss it but we needed an SV in addition. If we have to paint one of the cars next year I'm going back to Gulf colours.

Gulf car is 20 secs in, onwards.

Don't think you'll regret it.

Couple of my tatty gulf coloured racer...I'd show the side, but that would show too many different shades of blue for you to choose from!!

Certainly think for a roadcar the black pack suits the colour scheme better

Yep that's mine, although not a very accurate model. Chris Cooper did get official Gulf backing, a picture here of the car (looking better than now) and the model. I'm rather hoping it means my car is worth a significant premium...

My R300. Not true Gulf colours because it doesn't have the royal blue pinstripe bordering the orange and the stripe doesn't go down the back.

Seen some sources for the paint codes on the internet, some list Triumph colours, but I think that Porsche were the first:

Gulf Blue - Porsche 73 - Code 328 or J9
Gulf Orange - Porsche 72-73 - Code 019
For Royal Blue you can take a Dark Blue

I think I'll try and get the Royal Pin Stripes done on mine if I can before I put some clear-bra on the car (to keep it looking nice at/after the track).

From the mini forum that I found some time ago when trying to find touch in paints.

http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/index.php?sho...

_____________________________________________________________________________________________
045 RENAULT ORANGE
051 TRIUMPH POWDER BLUE
I have also been told the following are the same (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)
Berger paints No 1125 standard triumph powder blue ICI no. 8013.
No 1456 triumph marigold ICI no 3393.

"an original Production Car Record Sheet shows the Light Blue code to be (P030-8013) and the Marigold (P030-3393) both being British Leyland (Triumph) colours"

"here it is for the gulf colors(the originals):

Berger Ref 1125 Standard Triumph Powder blue
Berger Ref 1465 Triumph Marigold

Powder blue (PPG 12163)
Topaz (orange) (PPG 60812)
Royal Blue for thin stripe between orange stripe and powder blue (PPG 13126)
____________________________________________________________________________________________

A later post confirms that they are Porsche colours as boss351 says.

However my car was originally sprayed by Caterham when new (2004) and when I bought it two years ago they supplied two pots of touch in paint. So they should be able to help with colours.

I think I got the Triumph orange to spray the 7 grill. I wouldn't want to use it for touch in on my car, it was much warmer when seen side by side but OK for the grill.

Tony
Nice colour scheme you got planned, why not spray it yourself, if you can rebuild an engine [and get it to start] spraying's a doddle in comparison?

Thanks guys, that make it easier than flicking through a box of light blue cards (bloody hundreds of them)

Mal.
if only I had a garage as nice as yours, I've only got about a foot down each side of the car,no electricity and dust up to my armpits smile
