Yep that's mine, although not a very accurate model. Chris Cooper did get official Gulf backing, a picture here of the car (looking better than now) and the model. I'm rather hoping it means my car is worth a significant premium...Team Parker Racing built and ran the car, if anyone wants to create a look-alike. The UK Gulf business backed the car. Jonathon Turner, who owns the business that Gulf UK is part of and whom I've not seen in years, was and still is a huge enthusiast for our sport and I'm always grateful that I got to run with these iconic colours.
The Gulf 917 in the linked photos is the well-known Steve McQueen/Pedro Rodriguez car, which a very kind owner allowed us to use for the publicity shots. His generosity extended to an invitation to pilot the car down the driveway of the impressive facility where he kept part of his collection. Sadly, I am about 6 inches too tall even to fit in the car, let alone pedal it.
Very sad that the 'proper' R400s with slicks have now gone. 2002 was a mega year with Barry Horne, John Gladman and Matt Kelly. Barry and I shared a drive in a 997 GT3 Cup 'VLN special' at last weekend's Nurburgring 24hr; probably the only way that we'd be guaranteed not to run into each other...
Happy days.

Agree about the slicks going for R400s being a shame, perhaps Caterham will relaunch the R400 (or maybe it will be an R500 series?) with slicks. They need to do something to differentiate from the R300s if there's going to be a faster class above.
Look out for news in the coming months about the new R400 race car.Should be considerably quicker than the 300 and will feature a different tyre. Cost to the competitor with affordable racing is the main aim, and creating an unnecessary barrier to entry for people wishing to upgrade or come in. I'd be amazed if they choose to run on cr500's as it currently stands. Should be a demo car kicking around from July........its gonna be a rocket...engine upgrade sound very interesting!

Car that handles in the USA.... Looks lovely. With that weather bet it gets plenty of use.Tony
Heard you had a problem with your car - What happened?
Me I had a major engine prob [losing all the coolant] near the hotel and ended up being recovered.
Think I have a cracked block
Plenty of others broke down too, highest attrition rate ever.
Hotel was excellent though.
Let us all know what happened
