Looks fantastic.

Can I ask what size/thickness of foam tape you used along the length of bonnet landing/engine bay and also where did you buy it?

Hi Jason

I countersunk the holes and fitted stainless screws.
Do I take it then that for the fixings behind the heater you didnt use dome headed / nylon washers behind the heater ? Just stainless countersunk M5 ?

Also after seeing the way C.C bend the scuttle up and shove the top of the heater under it I decided to file the top of the heater to conform to the scuttle and sealed it with black silicone. It recon it looks neater.
This is interesting. I built mine, and as per the build manual (2007) the heater just sits flat on top of the scuttle - like your pics. The heater position is fixed as the mounting holes are already pre-drilled in the bulkhead. Are you saying that in a CC-built car the scuttle lip goes over the heater, ie they fit the scuttle after fitting the heater ? And then rivet through the scuttle and heater casing together? Or am I mis-understanding ?

Jason

I've done the same on my scuttle but used M4 alloy bolts in Orange to match the paint !!

I changed the spring coach bolt for an alloy button head , but used the same alloy spacers

Jason is the steering shaft as long as it shows in the photo or is it not connected. I like the idea of welding the QR at the correct distance to suit.

That does look good! Is it the same material as your tunnel top?
Ah sorry, just scrolled back, and I see now the tunnel top was done by Oxted.
I think I may have to shamelesly copy you on the tunnel top, except with red stitching! smile

Hi Jason

yes counter sunk screws behind the heater.
Thanks !

And a yes again. C.C seem to drill the rivets out after it's been painted and push the heater under it and rivet the scuttle back down to hold the heater in. Looks a right botch.
Jason
Certainly sounds a right botch as you say. Cannot imagine why CC do that.

Changing subject, on your boot cover from SBF7, have you got anything to prevent rain water running down the rollbar tubes and soaking the boot ? I find this a right pain and would love to find a large grommet or similar, or some other solution.

HI Jason,

Can I ask where you got the head shielding foil and tape from? I'm considering doing the same on my R400. Also, did I read that you stuck it onto the panels with silicone?

Cheers
Mark
