You might want to read that back to yourself.

You're saying it isn't cliquey but then say that threads are no longer on PH and the dates for the Christmas DD's are being discussed privately? Sounds like it is just a private group arranging drinks to me. wink

There is nothing wrong with that (everyone does it after all) but don't pretend they are open to everyone. Drinks arranged by round robin emails or FB groups are not by definition open to all-comers.
Where does it say that Xmas DDs is being discussed privately?

EG - there was a LOT of anti BTaP feeling last year because of the Watches - it gave over the impression that BTaP was for those that could afford to drop a few £k on a watch over dinner; which it isn't.
For some balance, I loved Watchfinder being there - I thought it fitted the evening well. They were open to you trying thigs on and enjoying, rather than a hard sales pitch, with no expectation of buying there and then.

Wear black tie, dress up and try on a fancy watch is great fun.

Whereas I am a watch aficionado and their presence didn't bother me either way.

IIRC, Watchfinder are a site sponsor and therefore probably contributed to the free bar.

I know what I said.

There are no threads for DDs. There is one discussion in a group about it being a free for all because someone was told that his wife wasn't allowed rolleyes There are no round robin emails, the only reason I know anything about it is because I was trying to see some of my friends before Christmas as I knew I wasn't coming to BTaP.

It has returned to it's original state as being the last Thursday of the month with no threads.

As you know DDs Christmas has always moved as it falls awkwardly & the date has always been discussed & agreed by those in DDs in October.

Saving for the supercharger for the '86?
hehe I could probably buy a Lambo with what I'm 'saving'.

I've emailed Litchfield to get a proper, real-world cost including dampers/handling, zorst, wheels, tyres, etc in time for Spring 2014. Still some time off for me but I'm in no hurry - unlike Bill and you. tongue out

I haven't seen a thread discussing it so took this at face value.

I'd assume so, all I know is that the threads were causing problems, so it was agreed in the pub not to start any again as everyone knows it's the last Thursday of the month.

Can we get back to BTaP now please?

Indeed they do.

I really don't think this is about cliques or suchlike, more as mentioned before, organisation, marketing and timing. There will always be different groups in any larger gathering (and sniping and all that goes with 'my friend says X Y Z...'). So what, it's an occasion for people to meet, (ok, drink strawpedoes very very badly..) and have a good time.

As soon as it's laced with an 'agenda' other than that, it becomes tarnished with one upmanship and backbiting - not needed, not necessary and detracting from the underlying ethos of PH.
