Being an ex resident of Daventry, I can recommed the Windmill at Badby about 3 miles away. Also do very good food for the lunch time fill up.

The Daventry Hotel or whatever it is called this week is ok but you migh as well stay at Staverton.

Or again Helidon lakes is nice but similar. Make sure you get a taxi booked NOW. They are not reliable.

You are right, the taxis are shit.

GregE240 and I have had to hitch a lift with the Tandoori Family Khan minibus before now

Must admit tho', it was a spectacularly funny journey. Greg was a little tipsy and came out with the legendary "Will you lot start speaking sodding English as I'm a nervous enough passenger as it is!" and "Did you get your licence in this country, Grandad?" to the older-looking driver LOL They were great fun - lapped it up, and kept Greg on his toes

That truly is an outstanding web site you have there pwig - a veritable shrine to the much maligned Rover - incredibly tidy for an 18 year old too, guaranteed to impress the girls

Mate - just turn up and get drinking - no-ones going to be tight enough to help out a fellow PHer in a time of need.

Try this one in a village just down the road

Premier Lodge
High St Weedon
Northampton Northamptonshire
NN7 4PX

Tel: 0870 9906364

If not there are a fair few Pub B+B's. Type 'hotels' and 'Weedon' into Yell.com.

If anyone is likely to need help give me a shout as I live in the area.

Or try the Heart of England in Weedon.

There's a few B&Bs in Daventry, but some are a bit on the <ahem> basic side.

Davcabs are the most likely cabbies for the trip back to the hotel. I was going to speak to them anyway because I've got a few people staying at my house in Dav (before you ask - it's full already!) - will tip them off that other people might need a lift.
