Hi David

Your name preceeds you on ABS as being a new owner & hopefully a new member on there (you've bought MUA haven't you?).

There are a couple of us LC owners on here although none that I know of from the Yorkshire area. I have an idea of things you may be looking to get done from other members viewing the car but what do you need sorting & we'll see if we can help?

I'd always advocate though if you've bought an LC & want/need to do anything to it & want to keep it for any length of time, pay your £25 & get on ABS as there are far more knowledgeable owners on there than I am.

Mike

Hi Winky - just waiting for ABs memebrship to come through

cannot wait to get on the forum

hopefully there is not too much bad stuff about the car !!!

it wasnt the dearest - so obviosuly isnt immaculate - but worth what I paid.

the issues I have are the cooling fan is always on, EML light on, and bad cold starting (needs alot of gas pumping to get and keep going at cold) I am thinking maybe coolant temp sensor ? but where is it ?

runs OK - bits of scabs starting inside some doors and some touching up done
some of the paint spraying is not the best - but I poishedit up and it doesnt look too bad at all actually.

cheers for any help

I had the first two issues when mine went although it didn't have any problems starting. Worth changing for the £30 odd IIRC it cost. Its tucked down the side of the thermostat housing between that & the rocker cover. Doesn't look it but there is enough space to get a socket on it without taking the thermostat housing off.

If the doors are starting to go (rear corners I'd suspect) at the first opportunity unbolt & remove the rear arch extensions to see what the state of the metalwork underneath is like. It maybe a shock but worth knowing now.

Hi Mike - yes will have a look under the kit in summer

although looking at some of the receipts I think alot of bits like that and sills have been welded and sorted.

it certainly has had alot of money spent on it in the past.

will replace the coolant sensor and see what changes we have.

would like to get someone to get it on a dyno or something and get all the fuelling/boost checked.

preferably without travelling all around the uk lol

coolant sensor changed - fans and EML light off - starting seems better also.

just a small occasional rattle from clutch now on tickover at neutral

sounds like clutch release bearing - I hope not as it had clutch, uprated pivot pin etc only 10k miles ago.

anyway clutch works fine -

still no password for ABS - even though paid and sent form back !!!

Hmm! 10k miles ago means nothing unfortunately. Mine went again last year after only about 7k (it was the pivot pin each time that went. 50p bolt but its a gearbox out job frown). Are you sure its the clutch rattling though? I had a rattle on tickover on mine & it was the O/S cat. Replaced it along with a stainless steel exhaust & no more rattle. Could also be a heat shield under the car.

I'll chase it up although there can be a delay sometimes with Dave (the forum manager) being out of the country on business.

pretty sure its clutch - as it goes when you depress clutch at idle

but its not there all the time - so will play it by ear (literally)

located another LC locally - but its been in storage waiting engine rebuild for 1-1/2 years - due to big end failure. and apparently not in the best condition.

guy has been waiting to accumulate all the necessary bit to do repair !!

wouldnt mind buying it for spares - although engine completely goosed.

cheers
Dc

Hi Winky - would you ask on ABS for me about engine tuners for LC's in the North

BTB cannot do it as too busy.

I just want to set it up correctly - not remapping for power.

cheers
David
