HI, I've been offered the neighbours Zafira for 2K, to me it is a lot of car for the money.

years MOT
FSH
new tyres, shocks, discs
112k
towbar, it has towed a caravan but been driven sensibly!

I also have a friend who works at the local Vauxhall garage so work can be done it ( private)

I've heard of gearbox, flywheel issues, DPF, some valve in manifold are the main culprits.

From all of this it looks in order, but the gear lever does rock when you pull away in 1st, is this the start of something bad?

Should/ would you buy?

M32 gearbox is £600 to rebuild

Inlets coke up due to egr valve
Then swirl flaps coke up

Best thing to do is blank egrs, swirl flaps, delete dpf and remap it

I have a modified Astra 1.9 150 CDTI and a 1.8 zafira (so a bit of both)

Push the accelerator and brake pedal to the floor, put the key into the ignition and turn to position 2 (don't start the car). Any engine fault codes will appear in the odometer display if there are any.

The movement in first gear is down to excessive play with the gearbox lay shaft end bearings (this will require attention) as said before £400 to £600 to fix.

You cant blank the EGR as this will give you an engine light but you can fit a restriction plate or have it mapped out

Swirl valves could be an issue in the future but if you have access to a VX mechanic he can remove them for you and fit blanking plugs at a cost of £30 (for the blanking plugs)

Make sure the brake fluid services have been carried out (changed every 2 years) as bad brake fluid can cause master cylinder issues.
