I like the Cascada, although it looks more like an Insignia convertible from the back.
Shame that many are fitted with the 2.0 CDTI though, I don't really "get" buying a diesel convertible.
Agreed about the Isnignia, but if you see beyond Vauxhall prejudice, it’s not bad looking at all. After all, it trounced the Mondeo which was a better drive. Cascada looks fine, as cars become increasingly SUV- like (real or faux.)

Pretty much every 1-series convertible I see is a diesel

I always look at the hardtop 1 coupes though and notice the same

Vauxhall’s attempt at a VW Eos competitor, but a bit late to the party.
VW Eos was an attempt at a Renault Megane

My ex-wife had one, bought it as part of her 'mid-life' crisis, lost over £2,000 a year in the 4yrs she had it (and she complained over the deprecation of my Land Rover D2, which was much less)

Have just looked at Autotrader (as it’s raining)..These are a bit dear still (at the asking prices,)

I had to sort out a Cascada that had arrived with 4 space savers fitted instead of the alloys. Then another popped up missing a space saver. Some enterprising person had obviously removed the alloys and fitted the spares from other cars.

Must have happened someplace between the factory in Poland and Antwerp port.

Much nicer than the equivalent grey boxes with posh badges driving around. Our tastes have been numbed by marketing of the boring.
Sad, but true.

Had to do a quick google and I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen one.

From the OP I initially thought it was some sort of 70s saloon..

It looks alright though if you like that sort of thing.

Chap in work missus has one. Good looking car but it also only has the 1.4 engine. Quite a sizeable thing for a small engine.

Another car to add to the list of “cars you didn’t know had a secondary pair of tail lights only visible when the boot is open”

It’s not just 1 series; plenty of other cabs around with a Diesel engine. God knows why.

I was blissfully unaware that these even existed until a few weeks ago. It didn’t really have any strong opinions either way. It was better looking than previous Astra cabs.

Just bumping this thread as I saw one for the first time ever yesterday. Genuinely never knew Vauxhall had made these. Surely a contender for one of the lowest selling main brand models?

Indeed surprised these are a rare sight on UK roads; considering the popularity of convertible models.

Even though it pisses down constantly here.

Actually it doesn't. On average, it rains once every 2.5 days in the UK (much less in the South, especially the south east), but most of those rainfall days are just for a short period during the day. Convertibles are useless in Southern Europe where it's too hot. The UK is pretty good for convertibles.

My neighbor has one, it is a great looking car, as you don't see alot of them about as mentioned - seems a shame, looks like a great GT car to cruise down to Europe in - it was just born with the wrong badge for some/most people these days, their loss I suppose.

Very similar to this image here, lovely looking piece of design.

In the Netflix series

You can see In Netflix series Get Shorty with cheeky Irish man Chris O'Dowd whose character drives the US version - a Buick of some sort.

It's pretty much just an Astra J GTC convertible. Really.

There's a couple or more Facebook forums which are amusing but not as bad as the GTC forums.
