Slight hesitation under acceleration - 1.4 16v

Just bought the wife a 1.4 16v Ecotec engined CDX Corsa on a P plate and it seems to be great. However, under part throttle acceleration it feels a little un-smooth (for want of a better word) from 1000 to 2200 rpm. Hardly noticable but there is something that doesnt quite feel right.
