VX220 A Pillar Cleaning

We recently borrowed a friends VX220 for our wedding, We put some burgundy ribbon on the car and all was well...until we removed the ribbon. The ribbon seems to have dyed a patch on the A pillar on both sides. Because the A pillar is a different paint/surface texture to the rest of the car its the only area thats been affected.
My mate says he's tried a few things to remove it but nothings working...he says he's not too fussed, but I want to find a way to sort this. It's only right it goes back in the condition it came in.
I've asked him to ask Vauxhall when it goes in for it's MOT if there are any cleaners they can suggest, i've also asked him to find out about a possible respray if it comes to it.
He's going to post up on VX220.org.uk to see if anyone there can shed any light onto it.
Any suggestions? or any ideas of a possible ball park figure for a respray if needed? Does anyone know if its just metal thats got textured paint on it, or if its a rubberised coating on the top?

Do you mean the A-Pillar as in the windscreen surround? If so it is a pain to clean with a rubberised texture as mentioned. It's bonded to the screen so is replaced as one part if the windscreen is broken. (front clam off job ca. £1500!). The thing to do would be to post your question on vx220.org.uk and see if they can help.
If it's the b-pillar - behind the seats and over the roll bar that's easier to respray and can be removed in one piece.

What are you on! its £300 for a new screen from RAC and only between £50 and £100 if you have windscreen cover on your insurance!on another note, have you tried meguars quick clay or clay bar. its very good at removing most stains but if its dye transfer it may go deeper than the surface which will require a resprey which should only cost between £50 and £150 depending on the sprey shop that does the job!

We spent a while scouring VX220.org forum and found that the A Pillar border is bonded to the screen, so as mentioned above, a new screen will replace the border.
He's tried nearly everything he can think of and nothing is shifting the dye. He thinks it's fading a bit so he's going to leave it a while and see if he can find something else to try later on.
It's not immediatly obvious to a casual bystander, it's not thick red marks...you have to know what your looking for to see it properly.
He know's i'm prepared to put right whats wrong, but he said he's not too fussed (tbh he's very laid back and only really still owns the car as he doesnt need to sell it). It seems he's happy to wait and see if a stone goes through the screen.
