Be aware there are lots of reported failures on these engines & vauxhall are trying to wriggle out of as many claims as possible.

I have a 2008 1.6T too and i have the same problem. I love my astra its fun to drive and omg fast. Mine has a wheeeing noice on excelleration too but goes when i push the clutch pedal down. Its very loud and sounds like its coming from just under the wiper blades of the engine, any ideas anyone please?
