Looking for something that has an agressive look & stance...looks over power, (them days are behind me )
Grey, black, maybe Blue or silver in that preference...not looked into buying a standard & kitting it out with a bodykit/wheels/exhaust etc really have not got the time & effort..so would prefer one thats been done budget upto 18k for right car...
Miles below 50k...age not as important as condition...
Roush a bonus!
Seen this but wrong colour preference & i think over priced a little....Please correct me if i'm wrong:-

Hi,
I cant follow your link to know exactly what you are after. But may be able to help. After owning a An S197 GT CS in the US and then the UK I think they are a great fun car. I have never regretted owning it.

Cheers

If you want looks over power and have an £18k budget buy a V6 (you can get them for less than half of your budget)and then make the necessary bodywork changes. Waste of time buying a V8 if you aren't interested in the power aspect of owning a Mustang.

No think you've missed my point on my earlier posts...I had a V8 Capri & now i'm hooked on that sound...V8 is the only way for me...perhaps what I mean is Super charger etc, etc...not too bothered about that stuff....PS I would have yours if it was manaul & without red seats...its seems a good buy...shame your gonna sell to a dealer at 12k?...it is too good for that...

Ahh ok I follow now, fair enough.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the AT/MT thing if you just want to cruise around in it the auto will be better, want to take it on a circuit go for the manual, drag racing - the auto is the only way to go.

I'm not Panzer3 off the S197 Forums by the way wink

Thanks,
Funily enough I agree with you about red Ferraris. I have seen a black GT CS and that looked really good with the Matt black stripe on gloss black paint. I think I would have gone for that colour if I wasn't buying it in Texas which gets very hot and I was warned not to buy black. Something else to think about -- possibly -- You might want to consider what rear axle ration the car has. I haven't tried the different ratios you can get when the car is ordered new so don't know how much difference it makes but you might think it would make a difference.

The only advantage of a V6 over a V8 is initial price as you can get the V6 relatively cheap now but all other costs are largely the same - VEL, fuel economy etc.

One thing to bear in mind is that the V6 is far less well equipped and in all bar the Pony pack cars, doesn't even get a rear anti-roll bar (Pony pack has a chrome corrale round the grille pony) plus you get 16" wheels which are harder to get good tyres for (18s are preferable and earlier S197 GT's came on 17s). Plus you get smaller brakes and a non-LSD rear axle. So that "cheap" V6, once modified, can soon stroll into V8 money and will always be harder to sell.

In terms of buying, look for some good suspension mods as the weight of parts means shipping stuff from the US is often more expensive than the part itself and back in 2005 when we were getting 2.2 dollars to the £, more people were modding and taking advantage of the exchange rate.

Red leather rocks. Only front seats are leather I believe, rears are still a PVC material. I read this somewhere.

When I bought my V6 it was 5k cheaper than a V8 of the same year and the spec was the same as the V8 (except engine obviously), same size brakes, 18inch wheels, leather, dash upgrade etc, twin exhaust etc I couldn't justify, and still can't, the difference. Mpg (on dash readout) somewhere between 8 and 32 mpg. Being realistic I have just come back from a 1300mile trip and it says 28mpg so not to bad.

Yours must have already been modified then as the brakes should be smaller and should have a single pipe. Obviously with mods already done, the differences are more acute. Mine averages 24 US though and that's nothing longer than a 40 mile round trip and general commuting and I've seen 35 on a run too but £5k is £5k.

Yep.....Dave's V6 looks and sounds (with it's twin pipe exhaust) just like a Cali Special GT.

In that particular case, I don't blame him for not wanting to spend the extra on a GT smile
