Hi there

Used to own a 2005 Saleen Mustang with supercharger which was running 570BHP which was great, had no issues putting power down in second onwards in dry.

Now considering a GT500 but seems there was a few revisions over years and was wondering if there were any areas local who'd be happy to take me out for a drive please?

O/T Your old engine lunched itself and was replaced with a Brenspeed 302 lump.

Really? Got any details what happened or why it happened?

Was it running 570bhp on the standard internals? if it was i would say that was the weak spot.

Yeah, but it had being fine for me and I'd put a lot of miles on it in that state of tune with no issue and changed oil every 5k miles and ran only Vpower. The guys who tuned my car JDM assured me running that power was fine. But I guess not?

Rods and pistons are a known weakness and reading the various US forums running anything over 500bhp on stock internals is a gamble, some are running close to 600bhp on stock and have no problems others running that much on stock have had the engine detonate after a couple of runs at the strip. There is a lot of tolerance difference between stock engines and I guess it also depends on how the car is driven, bounce of the limiter a lot with big hp and you may or may not end up with a big rebuild cost.

It was bit of an animal.

The guy who bought it didn't warm it up and look after it properly.

Ended up with a Brenspeed 302 and a very strange looking bodykit.

Shame, the guy did try to sell it back to me, never noticed that engine had changed and just witnessed how he'd ruined a great looking car with some crap stock on body kit, crazy to mod a Saleen aesthetically.

What kind of power did it make with that 302 engine?
