Anyone got sync 3 yet? one of the things I didnt like was that the nav was low down and not repeated in the instrument binnacle meaning eyes off the road at a crucial time.
Think quite a few on mustang6g.com have sync 3, reports or a large improvement

The old man's Mustang has Sync 3. I don't have any previous experience of Sync 2, but I have experience of other navigation systems. The fact there's no nav display in front of you is annoying, but I found the screen very easy (and very fast) to navigate between all the menus I need. The screen is clear enough and the voice instructions easy enough to decipher that a quick glance is all that's needed.

Rubbish pics of the car for those interested..

And for those wondering how long it takes from build to delivery;
  • Build || September 19th
  • Left Baltimore || October 21st
  • Arrived Zebrugge || November 1st
  • At dealer (Gates Stevenage) || November 18th
5.0 with Auto.

Grabber Blue. Great choice. Might be biased though!

Things at Zeebrugge certainly have speeded up. Mine arrived in Belgium on the 21st November and was on my drive on the 1st December.

Fantastic car but skid control lessons have been booked lol smile

Mine was on the Tamerlane that arrived at Zee on the 1st of December. Watching it closely but still hasn't moved yet.
The wait is nearly over
I nearly went for grabber blue but bottled it. Maybe wish I hadn't now

It's probably on the Autostar that will dock in Southampton tomorrow, comparing notes on Mustang6g, it appears a number of 1st Dec/Tamerlaners will have our cars arrive in the UK this weekend.

I ordered my Magnetic Grey Mustang (auto, 2.3 ecoboost) on 19th September from Peoples Ford Edinburgh. To my astonishment last week I learned it has an ETA at the dealer of 28th January, although it may even arrive sooner based on another Ford print-out. Having spoken to the dealer and Stacey at Ford at the time we all were factoring in an April build and end June delivery. A true WTF moment when I got the news. As of December 1st the car was at Gate Release at Flat Rock so it's built and ready to go, actually gone. The dealer reckons that Ford did a full on production run of 1000 before closing the line and mine must have just crept in. I visited the dealer last week to catch up and do a little celebration and they had a Magnetic 5.0 version in the showroom and I just cannot wait it looks so brilliant. Real dilemma over the new VED rules and as I'm planning to own this for a long time, I may delay registration until 1st April. As the impact is not as significant as it's a 2.3 not a 5.0 it's not so clear-cut, but a month's nothing in the long-term as I was waiting till 1st March anyway.

I've tried to track the shipment but it's not coming up on the WWL shipping tracker, which is perhaps not up to date, or may still be awaiting a ship. If anyone else has a Mustang likely to be on the same ship, it would be good to touch base.

I'd also be interested to hear theories as to why my Mustang only took 60 days from initial order to build.

Did you order from Steve? Mine will be spending a couple of months at Peoples Edinburgh waiting for the new rules, get it just before my marriage so can take it to Europe on a hooneymoon!

I did indeed order from Steve. I called him up as we hadn't spoken since October and that was when he broke the good news. Like yourself I'm holding off on actual registration and tax. We'll sort everything out beforehand then it's all go from April 1st, maybe March 1st but I suspect I'll hang on. As I said there's a Magnetic 5.0 in the showroom just now (or was a few days ago) and it's the same colour and wheels as my 2.3 and looks the biz.

My Mustang has now shown up on the shipping website and is booked on the Talisman, leaving Baltimore on 20th December, arriving Zeebrugge on 1st January. Ironically way too quick and requiring a delay on my part in getting ducks in a row before taking delivery myself, but a nice problem to have.

Is this delay actually an option? When I was considering a Mustang at the beginning of the year the Ford paperwork had a clause that stated the car must be registered and collected from the dealer within 3 weeks of arrival at the dealer.

Think they are bending the rules for those wanting to wait for the new tax rules.

Theres a chap on the M6G forums whose car was delivered a few weeks ago, and is holding off for the March (or is it April) rule change.
It's April for the tax change, it doesn't seem to much of an issue with the dealers, I think the time line is 3 months not 3 weeks though.

Is the April tax change worth waiting for on the ecoboost? If my numbers are correct manual is £355 then £230, auto is £650 then £295. These change to £800 then £140 and £1200 then £140.

Over 3 years

Pre April: M=£1045, A=£1535
April: M=£1220, A=£1620

With the V8 it makes more sense over 3 years

Pre April: £2665
April: £2420

Still not much difference and £880 payable up front at time of purchase, if financing interest needs to be factored in. The only thing with the V8 is the long term difference between the current £515 and £140 a year which is more desirable to a future buyer.

I ordered mine back in October but when I was told the car would not arrive until end of May/June I asked if they could hold the car for another couple of months until September 1st, which will make it a 67 Mustang! Anyhow, I'm one of the few brave enough to admit to going for the Ecoboost, or maybe not brave enough to go for the V8! The more I read, the more the Eco seems to get unfair slating by purists and the press. Maybe not so much the press to be fair, but most of the reviews I've read say the car is great all round with great handling and performance, but only seem to criticise the engine note. I don't care, I'm into turbos and am happy that I can use the car as a daily driver without massive fuel bills. Like any turbo car, off boost they return a decent mpg but the performance is there when you want it. Also, tuning remapping is simple and cheap if you get bored. I've gone for Ingot silver with shaker pro and climate seats. I too did not want the chrome or silver wheels. Must admit, I can't wait!

I've driven the V6, the ecoboost and the V8. I quite liked the ecoboost but having spent nearly 5 years in 400+hp NA V8's I couldn't do it. The only weakling in the mustang lineup is the V6 but mercifully that's been kept away from our shores. You can always stick a decent exhaust on the car if the sound doesn't cut it for you.

I guess the V6 would have been too high on tax and fuel and no-one would buy over a V8. Also, it doesn't sound much better than the 4 cylinder from what I've heard. Not sure why as even a 2.3 Cortina/Taunus V6 had a close to V8 rumble! (Check them out on youtube)
Funnily enough I've been looking at exhaust offerings for the Ecoboost. Most are American and sound too much like a Corsa with a can. The best I've heard is either Agency Power or Scorpion. The Scorpion is available in the UK so may consider after a while of running it standard.
