So who has ordered the new S550 Mustang?
Discussion
Had an email from my dealer the today, who's been pretty much spot-on about everything so far. He says Ford are currently about 4 to 6 weeks behind on deliveries, inc demonstrators which are now expected end of Nov. So I'm guessing it will be after Xmas before most of us (or maybe all of us!) see our cars.

Whilst disappointing, its not really surprising given the whole debarcle. There's scope for more delays too yet.Wonder if we'll see the promised new UK brochure soon, perhaps tomorrow being the 1st day of Q4. Can live in hope.
One thing is for sure, I'm never waiting this long for a car ever again, it really doesn't suit me.

According to a Ford source over on Mustang6g forum "FordStores are currently quoting leadtimes of 8 months (2.3 EcoBoost) to 13 months (V8) for the delivery of an order placed today."
I'm umming and ahhing. I think I might just wait a bit longer for the UK models and see what people think initially just to be safe. I am reasonably sure I want one, it's just that final few percent! slowhand99 said:

+10K monthly sales in the US, why the umming and ahhing? What do you see as potential issues with our RHD ones?richtea78 said:

Then you probably don't really want one. It's really not a car you umm and ahh about. So if they are not expected until the New Year, I'd rather hang on until March. Better weather and a newer plate.
I wish Ford would communicate with us and not leave us to speculate all the time. What's the big fekin' secret!!!
If there is a delay, write or email the customers. It's pretty fekin' easy.

The main thing holding me back is not having sat in one. I don't like the idea of committing without that. Old fashioned I guess
Fair enough. Be prepared to order one when you do though! In the south east there are a couple of places you can go and sit in one; Bill Shepherd Mustang near Brooklands and Think Ford Guildford.I think the way Ford have handled this whole process is just plain disappointing. Such an iconic car, such an opportunity for the manufacturer to share with a new market one of their most popular cars of all time. They will still sell, but I think we're all hanging in there despite what Ford are doing. No sense of partnership, loyalty or any kind of reciprocal relationship. Buying a brand new car and such an important model should be a good experience. Shame on Ford.
If I could find anything that compares I'd pull out, but I can't, Ford know that, likely don't care anyway.
Karen was nice to talk to and helpful though but even she admitted there was a lack of information.
Ford is a company geared up to producing and delivering cars, it is their core purpose so it is odd how they can't seem to manage the process even with new geographies.
Still, could be worse, could be a Volkswagen!

Much as I hate to be fair to Ford........
I ordered in March 2015 and was told 12 months. It's only my own obsession with the thing that's made me follow every forum post. OK the dealer has been silent (including not confirming spec when the order was locked down, or inviting me to their open day) but Ford have not let me down. My experience with my 64 plate Mondeo has been exemplary with each of 3 dealers I've been involved with (including my Mustang dealer and way better than the behaviour of the hallowed 'German marques'). The main comms problem has been the confusion between Ford corporate and the dealer network as to who is in the lead, demonstrated by Ford HQ taking the lead in communications via Andy Barratt, Karen Batt etc directly instead of equipping the dealers to answer the questions. If mine arrives, specced as ordered by March 2016, I'm happy.

A few did the rounds of some dealers earlier in the Summer. Call Think Ford in Guildford, who brought over a US GT to have in their showroom, just to check where it is as they move it around their group.
Not ideal, I know, but not too bad a trip from Southampton.
Was still in the showroom at Guildford yesterday. Not ideal, I know, but not too bad a trip from Southampton.
I ordered mine without ever seeing, sitting or driving one with no UK dealer network backup. I had to pay for it, upfront, in full.
You either take the plunge, or you don't.
At least you guys will have Consumer Rights and warranties, not that mine has ever needed anything other than servicing in seven years and 40K miles.

Page 54 - V8 engine infographics show 416PS (result of RHD exhaust modifications) yet sub copy still shows 421PS.
Ypu would think, given this was a 'hot topic' that required a letter to be sent out by Ford, thatt they would have made sure they got it right in the brochure!
Sadly yet another example of the apathy that Ford UK seem to have about their so-called 'halo' model.
