So had confirmation my V8 will start build on 2nd Dec. How long should I expect before car hits the dealer in UK ?
Cheers Dave
Has your dealer said anything or given out any info ? Cheers Dave
So far it's been allow 12 weeks from build to dealer. We've got seasonal holidays / factory closure coming up - don't know what difference that's going to make.
Quite large numbers of Mustang have been delivered to UK FordStores over the last couple of weeks. Most if not all of these were not officially due to arrive until December, so definitely some that have arrived several weeks ahead of what had been indicated by the looks of it.
Maybe yours will arrive in time to have the new 16 reg in March ?

Well, I've just secured purchase of a cancelled order. Race Red, v8, all the options except nickel wheels and black roof. Went for a test drive and it was everything I'd hoped for. Collect it next week. Very lively, good sound, loads of features. Norwich Ford were very honest about availability, but do in fact now have a silver demonstrator available along with a black one which is now sold. I believe they have 14 due for delivery soon, but don't know if they are all sold or not.
If anyone is concerned about build quality, don't be. It's good. Not BMW/Mercedes good, but actually not far away. Paintwork is actually better than the wife's Bimmer and inside is well built with lots of character. Dash board can display loads of engine parameters as well as performance stats etc. etc. Interestingly, no Service package is available. Annual servicing, minor and major is paid for at the time. They didn't have servicing costs through from Ford yet but assured me (!) it would be reasonable. It's a Ford!

Galling for the rest of us though who've endured almost a year of waiting (more before delivery). If I'd had known I could just pop into a dealership and buy a cancelled order 8 months ago I would have done
Lovely black convertible in Vospers Exeter for anyone that wants to take a look. Mustang logo puddle lights I suspect will make me smile every time I get in!
Mines apparently now mid production so three months for me!
Vospers having same frustrations as us, they received four this week that weren't due till late December so it's not just us punters being surprised!

It was always going to happen though. The deposit and ordering process has all been a bit too laid back IMO. For either no deposit or a £1000 fully refundable deposit FordStore's have been happy to specially order all the way from the U.S. a fully optioned car with a retail of somewhere around £38k. No questions asked about the ability to pay, how it's going to be financed or anything else. They're lucky they don't get stuck with a whole load of them to be honest, not that I think that's going to happen at the moment. What's the protection pack?

Just been to my local Ford Dealer had a test drive in a red 5.0. Got a black convertible in the showroom also a couple of customers cars.
They are quoting 9 months now for an order of Triple Yellow with Black roof.
Cost on road £37,394 that includes £2,880 options. RFL & First Reg Fee £1,155.
£20 Fuel & £499 for protection Pack.

Wandered down to my local dealer yesterday as their show car was in. A black 'vert with saddle. Saddle was my original choice and now finally seeing it in the flesh I wish I had stuck with it. Pics just don't do it justice.
Interior is absolutely fine BTW and they had some customer cars being prepped in the back. CO looks great even in the dark covered in dust. Think General Lee
White lights look good as well.
Found it pretty weird to sit in an American car with the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Like others, I nipped over the border today to Swindon to see three GT's, Ruby red, grey & race red. Customers cars but got to sit in the ruby one, front & back seats.
Body: wow. Better in reality over photos. Back deck is amazing. Like the rear lights too.... Shut lines were fine apart from the bit in the middle of the bonnet that joins the front bumper piece. Seems that the bonnet is higher slightly in the middle. Was the same on all the cars there (apart from a convertible oddly). This 'little' thing will drive me mad, I know)
Interior: very impressed. Quality feels good, seats were amazing. Quality & comfort. Seats in back were more roomy & less claustrophobic than my current Jaguar XK8. Occasional, short journeys will be fine. Like the aluminium trim & steering wheel felt nice too.
Colour: I've ordered ruby & will stick but was extremely tempted by the grey. Very, very nice.
May pop back next week to take some photos but overall, I'm very happy with the whole car. Incidentally, the GT that I looked at is about to be picked up by its 24 year old female owner who's mega excited. Jeez, can't even imagine what that would be like getting a new car at 24 let alone a Mustang! How times have changed.

I'd never given a thought as to queue jumping. I went into another dealership and they said Norwich had one to look at. I was with my wife and were going to Norwich anyway so all I wanted to do was get a look at one. I was looking at buying something in the next couple of months or so and just assumed that a Mustang would take ages to get. Turns out it was a cancelled order. It sat there 2 weeks? Apparently loads of people looked at it, but it didn't sell. Even I left it a week after looking at it, done some man-maths, then went back and put down the deposit!
I got the impression that more were becoming available though. No discounts at all though!
