just had a quick half an hour in an auto GT. Just up and down a few Junctions on a very busy A3.

Great sound, only took it up to .9 leptons but the car felt as solid as a rock, steering fine, great noise on kick down and plenty to be heard at town speeds.

Good vision and the car didn't feel big at all. Mind you my last US car was a Mercury Grand Marquis. I think the rhd helps make it feel smaller.

I loved driving it and no buzzes or squeaks plus the beautiful bonnet was solid at speed.

My only gripe was how clunky the sat nav was compared to using Google on my phone. Wish I hadn't ticked that option now.

Only a couple of months to go now.

I had a drive in an black, auto convertible today. Agree with everything you said. Smiling at every second. Fun car. Glad I stuck with the manual though; think it suits it better (my opinion obviously). Very happy (oh, & that bonnet!!!)

Yeah! I've gone for manual too but I have to say that the auto impressed me.

Yep, I liked it for sure but I'm driving a Jaguar XK8 at the moment & compared to the stang it just kinda 'feels right'.... sort of composed & relaxed. The Mustang just felt raw, angry & fun compared which I felt would be better with a manual. As I said, just my opinion but maybe i'll feel different after a while?
Had my 16 year old Daughter in the back of the car during the test drive (she videoed a bit) & said it was very comfortable & bigger than the Jag. Roof was higher than the Fastback mind you but elbow room was bigger anyway.

Fun pushing to 7k revs.... that sound!

Yes I know but all the mpg that I have seen from the us were on 93 octane or lower as was the power , I know we lost 4bhp because of the reenginered exhaust , so I was trying to gauge a conversion from us gallons to uk and assuming I would be 98 of 99 octane here I wondered what real life mpg over here people were achieving
Ie 23 mpg on 99 , 17 on 95 etc
Thanks

Yep been a bit of a lurker , but have absorbed an awful lot from afar
Thanks
You would never see anywhere near that difference in mpg between the fuels we get over here, bearing in mind they're rated differently to US fuels.

My 4.6 auto averages 18mpg as a daily driver with half my commute in town traffic. It's easy to get high 20's mpg on a run. The Coyote engine is much better on the fuel than the engine in my car.

Yep, agreed, I test drove a black vert auto this morning.

The sound track is not that bad, so I am reconsidering whether I need a sports exhaust.

My only gripe is that the indicator / wiper stalks are a bit plasticky

Very jealous of you guys getting your cars, something not right with the waiting list though given I ordered on 28/1 and am being told Feb delivery when others ordered after that and already have their cars.

My 22/1 order is still at the docks in America along with 3 customer cars and 2 Demos for Trust Warrington - I picked the wrong dealer sadly even though they are a big group they haven't fared as well as smaller dealers.

I've had my Auto GT now for 6 days and have been through my first tank of fuel. I averaged 17.2 mpg and that was with doing a few A road runs along with going around town. I put the BP high octane fuel in it.

It really is a lovely car. Turns heads everywhere i go (literally had people giving me thumbs up and coming up to me at first visit to petrol station) and sounds amazing. It's really solid, nice vision front and rear and just feels very good quality. The interior finish is not in the same realms as a high end BMW or Merc, but it's plenty good enough and there is no squeaking or rattling etc. Everything is sound. The seats are really comfortable and the lumber adjustment is great too. I really like the SYNC2 as well, the screen on it is huge. Rear view camera is very clear even when wet etc. I got mine in auto and i'm really glad i did. It's just effortless. Just put your foot down and go, there is never a jolt, judder or delay. The power is just there. My auto Mercedes i had before used to struggle a bit coming off roundabouts as it tried to find the right gear but the Mustang doesn't even flinch. It's just a dream. The puddle lights are a topic of amazement and conversation with passengers of an evening too!

The only thing i'm not 100% keen on is the steering wheel. It feels like it should be a bit thicker and i can't get on with the answer and hang up phone button on the wheel. It might sound silly but where my thumb goes naturally to press the button, isn't quite the right place and i end up having to glance down. It's a tiny gripe really and im sure i'll get used to it. The folding mirrors seem almost pointless too as they barely fold in due to the size of them.

I mentioned earlier in this post that i had a Roush axel back exhaust fitted which adds that extra growl. My brother in law said when he had a go in it, it felt and sounded like a track car.

This is easily the best car i have ever owned for looks, power, feel and value. £34,500 for what you get is amazing really. I literally look forward to my next journey on a daily basis at the moment.

which Mercedes gearbox was it, the 5 or the 7 speed? What engine?

V8s tend to work better with autos due to the torque

It was a 7 speed but CLA 180 so not much power. Totally agree about the torque...just makes the thing smooth as silk.

That's great to hear - I ordered a RR V8 auto fastback custom pack ages ago..... in February. It's on Eurasian Highway heading up towards the Netherlands after stopping in Belgium?, expected at dealer mid-Jan. Not having ever driven one it's good to get feedback as to how they drive. My dealer has been pretty good to be fair, and by the sound of things, I'm doing a lot better than some on here who ordered in Jan and earlier. To those still waiting, stay patient, you know it's going to be worth the wait (and knowing my luck, probably a very cold January anyway). http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/9.gif

Hi,

I ordered on 24 Feb and received confirmation from Ford on 20 Mar that I was on the reservation list.

I downloaded my window sticker in October and it had a build date of 29 October. Since then I have entered my VIN number into the FordEtis page but sadly it still returns a build date of 30.11.0002

I contacted Karen Batt recently and she tells me that there have been airbag issues on some European Mustangs and so she has escalated my enquiry to the plant. Evidently the car has been "re-segmented" whatever that means.

Maybe this issue will effect others on here waiting for Hell to freeze over?

It's a shortage of glove box lid assemblies which have the air bag built in. Another thing Ford could have given us a 'heads up' on, but just did their usual 'heads down'.

Went to see my car today. FcensoredK it looked good! .... I was completely blown away by it, photographs just don't do the car justice. I saw the yellow LHD car a couple of times over the summer but seeing mine today I now realise the yellow colour really didn't do the car any favours. Picking it up Saturday or Sunday. Can't wait! If you're one of those people thinking of throwing the towel in after the mess Ford have made of the whole launch thing, try to hang on - you'll be glad you did! smile
