So who has ordered the new S550 Mustang?
Discussion
My competition orange 2.3 got built on 10th feb and I noticed on .etis.ford that it had been built without the heated and cooled seat option that I ordered now ford are saying that if i want it with that option that i will have to start again with a new order and i cant have it in competition orange because it's been discontinued and iv already waited 5 months what a balls up who would order a car that has leather seats and not have them heated in this country so i will have to start the wait all over again and have a car in a colour i didnt want 😫 Ford customer service is 💩

Quite a few independent dealers with a selection of new Mustangs in stock now, as their have been unexpected delays is it a coincidence these dealers got several cars for stock? I bet my slot went to one - bitter and cynical ? Yep.
Either that or general incompetence at running an ordering and production system... Not good whatever it is, it's hugely frustrating mine has taken so long but at least I know it's on the way now. The lack of communication, whatever the reasons for delays, can't really have any excuse though.... croyde said:
I've not been bothered by not having heated leather seats. That big V8 heats the cabin up very quickly. Within a couple of miles I have to open the windows a bit. That is on an open road at 60mph so 2 minutes to warm up.
Having driven an S550 in LA it's actually the seat cooling I'm most looking forward to (for the 5 days a year it's going to be useful in the UK ). ozzuk said:

13 months and not on a boat yet - may set the record for "sod you mate your not getting your car"
14 months here Gutting isn't it. I don't think mine is on the boat, was supposedly built 22nd Jan. Deposit paid 17 Dec 2014.

I can buy a car with 50 miles on it today in black same spec but I really want blue - when my Zoe was a week late they offered a free arm rest, for the Mustang being months late - nowt.
I know it's frustrating, but keep with it, it's worth the wait.I guess they don't need to offer anything, not saying it's right but this's how it is.

His order went live after mine!! I have definitely been turned over by Ford my only course of retribution is to cancel it which doesn't really help.
that is mental, why dont you email direct to Andy Barrett at Ford UK, Mine got built on the 22nd of November, but its only just landed in Holland. I am told it will be a further 6 weeks.
So its > 4 months for delivery from factory to dealership at present....
If its being advised that the lead time is down to 9 months I would qualify if thats the delivered lead time or the built lead time!

When did you order?
I first registeterd interested in the Mustang when it was first ever mentioned via Ford UK.Then I finally had first contact via an email from a Ford dealer in January 2015. I confirmed my order with them immediately. Then 6 months later was told it was due for an October build, then been told it will arrive just after Christmas. That was then pushed back to March 2016 due to the factory closing over Christmas period for 3 weeks. Then today had a phonecall to say mid way through April. Luckily it's going to be a weekend toy - I don't know how someone would be fixed who was hoping to part-exchange their car or was banking on their Mustang arriving as their daily drive....as they would have to be renting a car until their's arrives.

Andy replied but didn't actually do anything, it seems a batch were sidelined by the factory to make the demos (I think) - in reality I'm not bothered but the unfairness and the total lack of professionalism jars.
To be fair to Andy, if it's a production/scheduling issue I don't think there's much Ford UK can do about it. Until the car lands in Europe all Andy can do is try to keep folks calm and informed - but agreed, the whole process has been (and continues to be) flawed by a lack of communication and professionalism.I have sometimes wondered, however, where all the 'cancelled orders' are coming from - did a real person ever exist or did phantom customers appear so dealers could sell a car bought at the old price for the new price? ..... or is that just me being cynical? ..... again!?
