I think the tax will make quite a big difference to the resale value. A car with £140 per year tax vs £500 a year tax will attract quite a chunky premium.
That's my thinking but then again it's only £370 a year and most people aren't going to be keeping these cars more than say 3 years so a max of a grand difference?djc206 said:

Some people will think so - I wouldn't. It's a running cost, and tax is probably the most expensive yearly part of the Mustang at present... and that's a nice problem to have willisit said:

Landy defender ( non commercial) registered between 07- 10 is £460 per year. 2011 on , for the same car is £ 200 per year Has not affected sales or prices of the earlier ones at all.
i know they are very different vehicles but just to show how little differentce a bit more roadtax will make if it's the car they want
If your are happy to run a 5 litre V8 in this country, then a bit more road tax isn't going to put anyone off.

You may be right, but my view is over the lifetime of the car (say 20 years) that's about £7.5k difference in running costs. Even if you only keep the car for three years every single future owner would benefit from the lower runnings costs and be prepared to pay a premium for it.So, if you asked an actuary at least, a new car with £140 a year tax vs an identical new car with £500 a year road tax would be worth a damn site more than an extra £1,000.

No mate, I Know there are a few people who were doing that but I'm hoping to take delivery early December To be honest the dealership has been pretty up front about it from the start. As soon as the vehicle arrives and has it's PDI then they want it paid for and out of the door. I can understand their point of view, limited space, cash flow etc. and after waiting this long I just want the vehicle

Mine is also on tijuca due in zeebrugge on 21st Nov will I get my Stang before Xmas ???
Dealership was still quoting Christmas eve for delivery but they tell me this is very much subject to change. Thinking about it logically, if the Tijuca docks on the 21st then the cars spend approx. 1 week in Belgium before being transported to Southampton and so to my reckoning cars should be coming in to the UK during w/c 28th November.I'll be chasing on a daily basis from the 1st December!!

Last time I paid any attention (admittedly a few months ago), 2 to 3 weeks was about normal for UK cars to get to Southampton and then perhaps another week or so to get to the dealer depending on luck/distance etc. EU bound ones were taking even longer. Mine was about 6 weeks Zeebrugge to dealer from memory.
As I say, I'm ever the optimist but maybe the most frustrating time is to come kapiteinlangzaam said:

That's crazy, my current Audi was 3 weeks factory to dealer. I live 10 miles from Southampton docks, might start a pick up service!bigblockmark said:
It's on it's way. Just seen that it's booked on the Tameran, leaving Baltimore on November 21st.
How the f##k is Santa going to get it down the chimney. Bet it's snowing when It arrives
Happy days

Hope I'm wrong for you mate but I think it may be just too late for Santa ....judging by previous comments, it's a frustrating long wait once they hit Zeebrugge. Mine's docking on Sunday night/Monday morning and I'm just hoping for a fast turnaround but from what I've read its anything from 3 to 6 weeks from unloading to dealership. I plan to start the daily phone calls/emails to the dealership from the 1st December and see if I can annoy them into action How the f##k is Santa going to get it down the chimney. I think you are probably right. Always the optimist.
I dislike Christmas at the best of times, let alone went I want it to be over so that I can get the beasty.
Good luck with your chasing. Lets hope that the old Christmas spirit lethargy doesn't set in with the shippers
