I'd echo the above about money off.

The car is a steal at that price and Ford have been inundated with orders, well deposits, many from people who were happy to lay their money down long before we had any idea of price or UK spec.

Can't see Ford offering discounts on a car that sounds like it's demand is far outstripping supply. It's not like there are thousands of them sitting at the docks in Portishead.

I have a horrible feeling that most of us will find out that we are on a very long waiting list and will be given the option of a refund if we don't like the idea of waiting for our cars until 2016 or later. Just my 2p.

I personally am happy to wait (gives me time to find the money) and maybe someone will offer me a fortune for my place on the list or even better, I get to own and drive the car and lose no money on it when I sell a year later.

If the values drop like a stone, it still doesn't bother me as actually plan on making it a keeper and possibly my last new car before I have to give up my licence.

I bought my E36 back in '98 and still have it so you can see that if I like a car I do tend to hang on to it biggrin

So I doubt there will be discounts or favourable finance deals.
I agree with this, and have mentally pencilled the car in to arrive Q1 2016 at best.

What would be interesting to know is how many Ford will bring into the country. Will it be a Halo car or will they go for broke and flog as many as they can. I guess it's still a big seller in the USA and they will need to manage the factory's ability to manufacturer a certain number for each country they are exporting to.

I'm hoping that it will be a fairly rare sight on the roads but at this price point, it is a very good proposition.

It will still be an enthusiast's car so hopefully rare on our roads, well in V8 flavour anyway.

Similar money will get you a nicely specced BMW or Mercedes diesel that carries 5 in comfort, low tax and high mpg. The Mustang is not that practical being a 2+2 and people used to 30-45 mpg will baulk at the fuel consumption.

Again my 2p but once they are seen on the roads, I'd expect orders for the ecoboost will start to come in.

I know you don't buy a mustang for Eco, but what kind of mpg do we think the ecoboost would achieve on a run?

I definitely can't stomach running a V8 over 20k a year but a semi decent excuse for trading our new Audi in would be lovely!!!

The claim for the Ecoboost seems to be in the 30's - around 30-32 IIRC (although I've not been focusing too much on that engine in my reading wink )

Regarding delivery - I just did a bit of calling around dealers and compiling the info (well done Lee Bean at Swindon for being very on the ball):

- Orders should only be placed through an official 'Ford Store' (Mine wasn't, but I've confirmed my order with the local Ford Store).
- The 2015 production-run allocation of 'Stangs is not yet filled.
- Placing a deposit should see the Dealer than submit a 'Mustang Reserve Waiting List Form' to Ford, who will then confirm the order with that customer in due course (no idea on time-lines for that).
- Orders will be formally placed in May, with priority given to those already on the confirmed waiting list, as held by Ford.
- Production will start in Sept for a Q4 2015 delivery window (Probably no earlier than Nov 2015).
- Demonstrators will probably only start to filter through once initial customer orders have been delivered (no definite detail has yet been given by Ford).

As they have incurred the cost of engineering RHD for the Mustang, Ford will want to sell as many as it can ..

Deep impact blue is a great colour in the metal, especially when in bright sunshine.

RHD is a big market though, not just us Brits.

Australia, NZ, South Africa, Japan, India, Pakistan and Malaysia are all RHD and some more that I can't remember.

I agree with this, however they are exporting it to other RHD markets as well (at least Australia & South Africa, not sure what others). They are also going to 25 new markets in total inc China

http://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2015/01...

The old article states "Because right-hand-drive versions of the Mustang are expected to account for less than 10 per cent of global sales Ford Detroit is keen to sell it in as many countries as possible to recover the extra engineering costs involved in making a right-hand-drive model"

http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/exclusive-ford-mu...

So if you believe Wikipedia, they sold 82k globally last year, so that's 8k in RHD, although I guess they'll want that was incremental sales, so say 90k total sales, of which 9k are RHD

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang#Sales

How many cars can the Flat Rock factory make? That may well limit production in the short / medium term.

As regards the discount, personally I didn't even think about asking! It's a year away & demand is high. I don't see any dealer knocking anything off.

I hope to God you guys aren't right about 2016!!

Personally I don't see it being that long for a couple of reasons:

1. A two-year wait on something like the latest Ferrari or similar is acceptable; for a Ford, albeit THE Ford (for the regular-Joe!), is not, so I don't see them taking deposits this far in advance if they can't deliver in a reasonable timeframe.

2. I think they'll try and flog as many as they can because as someone mentioned, they've had the tooling costs of the RHD plant. That said, I don't think they're going to go mad and flood the market, but they'll certainly be putting a lot of effort in to making sure these initial orders get fulfilled quickly. Not only to satisfy customers of their halo car, but also to get them out on the road as rolling adverts. Ford, if you're listening, I will gladly advertise your product by driving mine around all day, every day, if you'd like to fund the fuel.

just joined up after finding this thread, I've put a deposit down for a yellow 5.0 which I realise is utter madness and I'm happy to not be alone, I thought you don't buy a mustang based on sound financial decisions, not sure if yellow is a good choice as it looks great in all the colours I've seen. hopefully the Mustang will have more character than the current M135i which is really quick but has no soul, So anyway....hi, see you around.

I put a deposit down before Christmas and have ordered:

5.0 V8
Manual
Fastback
Magnetic
Ebony
Shaker Pro
Parking sensors

It's intended as a tool for the business - alongside the Ford GTs we specialise in.
As we're Whipple dealers we'll be adding the Whipple front feed supercharger system which may require some cal work to talk to the European car, plus a Maganflow exhaust and a few other things. Should be fun.....

Nice to see a yellow one on there at last.

That was my first choice but I just know I'd end up getting fed up with the endless "is that Bumblebee?" comments.... rolleyes

When I had a yellow one the biggest problems was all the insects thinking it was a flower.

The 30 seconds between finishing washing it and starting to towel a yellow car down in the Summer, hundreds of insects have landed on and then drowned in all the little puddles of water....pain in the arse.
