Finally had the "you're on the list" confirmation email from Ford (deposit was placed on 26th Jan)
Ok, NOW I'm definitely concerned since you're using the same dealer as me AND placed your deposit after me. Centurion07 said:

ETA: emailed my sales guy, he emailed me back saying he'd been talking to the Reading(FORD)store about this today and will have an answer on Wednesday and will email me as soon as he does. WHAT THE fkING HELL DOES THAT MEAN?!!!!

You think its random now? when the order book opens in may the buyers with the dozy dealers will be crying as the more organised or savvy dealers get the orders in - I think! I just hope my dealer isn't a dozy one.
I don't quite follow that the order book opens in May?UK dealers have taken orders and placed them with Ford US. Ford US have made internal confirmations of the order back to the UK dealer (a few of us have seen the internal confirmation email) and then Ford US have emailed the customer directly to say that they are 'on the list'
I can understand than maybe you must have the final spec agreed by May, but the order book is already open???

Specs and deposits have to be in by the end of May, its possible they opened the order book early for some customers but my dealer (TRUST) isn't sending their order book over to Ford until then, when all customers will be "hard" and specs "confirmed" - I think they just have a que system but its such a mess who knows, what I do know is the fact they have under 1000 orders for the UK is not even one days production so how big a deal it is I am not sure.UK dealers have taken orders and placed them with Ford US. I've just been sent this email which my dealer receieved from Ford:
"Sent: 19 March 2015 12:52
To: Sean Russell
Subject: RE: Preston Ford - Customer Question? Mustang Order
Hi Sean
Mr XXXXX has been recorded and when the orders are generated in September, his will be built and delivered to him before the end of the year. Orders are not being put into VISTA until at least August.
I’m sure there will be many communications to come back before then.
KR
Karen"

Ok, strange, my dealer said they had to scan the form in (the one with the tick boxes with the spec you want) and email it over to Ford US to get the place in the queue. That infers you are sending your spec over when you order (or get your place in the queue).Although I changed my colour last week with no issue which could corroborate the May deadline for final specs.
But the key question (for me) is, will Ford US process them in the order they were received from the UK?

Ok now this is a quandary ? i find myself leaning from Guard to Black and then they go and change the black ???? anybody have any answers before May please .

Do Ford even have any RHD components engineered and ready for production yet - i.e. steering racks, dashboards etc. ?

any 'order' you have placed is just reserving a spot in the queue, not ordering a car. So orders sit in a pile until the order book for RHD opens in May, when they get entered into the system. The email below seems to be indicating that orders won't actually be entered into the ordering system until August. But I guess this is just another possible version of events .... who knows what's actually happening?!
This is what I've been told - there is simply no system in existence for any UK FordStore to take and process any Mustang orders at this point. I'm starting to think that it may not make any difference if you ordered a year ago or you don't order until this coming August / September time. With the interest that Mustang has generated across Europe you wouldn't think it too difficult for Ford to have by now given out some firm details regarding ordering, delivery, specs etc. ?

I guess that, although Ford can knock out 700+ cars a day, it all depends on how many RHD cars they're geared up for and how they organise the production line. As I understand it the Mustang shares the line with the Fusion, which I assume has the larger proportion of production as Ford sell more of them (is that correct?). So presumably this immediately halves the capacity for Mustang production. How would you organise it thereafter? ....
Would/can they produce RHD and LHD at the same time, or would they produce RHD cars for one day a week or something?
Has the demand for RHD exceeded the expected level and are they only geared up for X units a week/month/year or whatever, regardless of demand?
Clearly this all means it's time for more uninformed speculation .... still, gives us all something to talk about to pass the next 12 months!
Can't see a Magnetic one unfortunately.
However if anyone can't wait for their car to arrive, there's a 2015 3.7 V6 in Orange for sale (seems a reasonable price - £29k) on eBay
