So the latest news is that we will know exactly when our car is going to built on this Thursday the 7th May. And than we have till 15th to change the specs. After that order is locked. Lets see where am I on the waiting list. Booked first week in February.
Hey Targa - have you checked with your dealer today to see if this has happened? I don't have the heart to call mine yet just to be told no news smile
Hey Steiom - yes I did ring my dealer, who said he can now see my car is logged on the Ford Database, Build month is August and order No is A332. He can not yet see the exact build date but that too should be visible after 15th of May when window of any alterations is closed.

When did you place your order? I placed mine on 28th Jan and have number 124, it would be interesting to see if there is any chronology in the order numbers

Croyde - stop worrying my man! We're all taking a punt here but then we're getting first cars in the country which will be very rare. Worse case flip it if you don't like it and import a LHD smile

Personally my next one will be the CR Supercars Villain Mustang, yum yum

I have no number either........

Went into my dealer today to check (optimistically) if he needed to confirm my spec. His info (from the 'UK Mustang team') is that the 15th May date is for lock down of the Champions League orders. Confirmation of the next batch of orders would progressively follow after that and I would be contacted when my turn came up. CL cars may be built in August. The rest to follow.

Doesn't seem be the same story as above.

Hmmm, the plot thickens.

I ordered mine 25th Jan and the last I heard from my dealer (after I popped in since I'd heard NOTHING!), a week or so ago, was the next time he would be contacting me would be around the end of May. Nothing about build dates, order numbers etc etc......

Someone, somewhere, is making a right fking mess of this.

Standard for a new car launch.

Had exactly the same with PT Cruiser and Crossfire when they were launched.

I'm Guildford Ford as well. Spoke to them yesterday and the salesman said that there was no information forth coming from HQ. He admitted that he had never seen one and couldn't answer any of my questions.

He suggested to go to Bill Shepherd's for a look but I've done that already.

I phoned my 'Ford Store', Allen Ford Northampton , informing them that other dealers had info on finalising production orders on vista etc. They are currently chasing up the UK Mustang team to see what they can do for their 9 mustang deposits. They expect to hear v. shortly ...
Meanwhile I wrote the following to Anthony Ireson , Ford UK marketing director to voice my(our collective) concerns . He was good enought to reply back last time ...see earlier thread ....so I'll post any update.
I'm also checking (like many of you) regularly this forum and the 6G forum for updates ...and seem to be telling my dealer when they should be expecting updates from the Mustang team (isn't that the wrong way round ..confused).
It may be a little perverse, but all this anticipation is making me look forward the arrival of my Mustang even more xmas !
email sent 7th may :

"Dear Anthony
Apologies for bothering you again , but it seems that the challenges you are facing will not be relieved if the local UK ford dealers are still in the dark ..as they still seem to be.

There appears to be a growing frustration from the existing (and I guess potential) UK Mustang early adopters wrt information concerning UK specifications and build dates.

Amongst the many topics regarding UK specs are :

• Is the Handbrake / cup holder positioned changed for RHD UK mustangs
• Are the tail lights white in appearance ?
• LED headlamps / running lights configuration
• What are the stripe options ?
• Why no Recaro seats and additional dash gauges as per USA cars
• Limited wheel choice ?
• Early deposits placed will secure MY 2015 or 2016 ?
• When can we firm up orders ?
• Build dates , delivery dates
• Finance options ?
• Sync 2 or 3 ?

And many more //…

The nominated ford stores across the country seem to know less than the people who have blindly, but faithfully placed deposits (mostly on a car they haven’t seen in the flesh …and certainly haven’t driven). It’s becoming so strong a situation that quite a few are considering , or already have cancelled their orders , waiting for more clarity from Ford on the UK spec.

The forums which your UK team could study (and consider as a pre marketing group study) are :

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

and

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1...

They all start off with excitement as deposits were placed back in January or before. The thread deteriorates into many questions , speculation and eventually frustration with Ford …and their dealers for lack of information..

Maybe your team could issue an exact bulletin urgently to the dealers informing them on the current spec , and covering some of the questions being raised to them … which currently they cannot answer.

Of course , I’m just one customer , but the forums must represent a large proportion the customers who placed early deposits (such is the nature of the car enthusiast) . I wouldn’t presume to advise Ford UK how to deal with this issue , but some action would certainly be seen in a very positive way by your new mustang customers.

Kind regards "

Lets see ....have fun
Matt

Seconded.

Far more eloquent than the email I would have penned which would have started with "FFS guys, sort it out!". hehe

Evening all,

So this is my first post on this forum although I feel like I know you all. I like many of you have spent hours over the last few months scouring the internet for snippets of information and videos of what I might expect in a vain attempt to satisfy that “I want it and I want it now” feeling. It ain’t working though.

So credentials first. A poor history of car ownership all of which have been Fords and which at the moment is represented by an 8 year old Mondeo ST Diesel. Sorry about that.

Started looking for a replacement probably a year or two ago and saw nothing I wanted. Then spotted the Mustang was coming to the UK and couldn’t escape the fact that the car had my name written all over it. Put the reservation in on 23rd January with Trust Ford, Castleford. Never had a new car before - my Dad’s words about how buying new was a mug’s game ringing in my ears. But a regular new Porsche buyer I know said it was a great experience and so I figured I’d saved a bit so let’s find out for myself. Almost got bullied by the wife into buying the rag top until a brief moment of lucidity on the way to the dealer rescued me back and I declared it was my car and it was going to be a fastback. Race Red, Custom Pack and V8 – got no children – what do I care about the planet.
Dealer was interesting as I had to put down a £2K deposit and I am fascinated by the differences there with some requiring nothing. Haven’t read of anyone needing to put down a bigger deposit than £2K; I must have a dishonest face.

Croyde and Centurion07, if it makes you feel better, I’ve heard absolutely nothing either – not even one of the emails from Mr Ireson saying welcome to the club. My dealer only speaks to me when I call them and then has no information although I am beginning to think that is just because HQ have given them nothing. Although Targa’s posts cause me to doubt that. I too learn more from this forum than the dealer knows - so thanks for that fellas.

When the dealer told me about the £2K deposit with a wince on his face as if to say “I’m sorry about this by I am going to try my luck here”, I did specifically tell him I was perfectly happy with the deposit because it meant that neither of us could get out of the deal without it hurting. I’ve got a contract with the dealer and they need to contract with Ford to deliver on it so if it all goes Pete Tong, and Ford don’t deliver; that’s the dealer’s problem. Shouldn’t have taken deposits when really all they could promise was an opportunity to order. It’ll be good to learn what others have had to put down with whom and who the good dealers are. Even a call now and then to say they’ve spoken to the HQ team and got nothing from them would have helped.

I was hacked off that the UK ordered in droves but the car was on show in Switzerland and Germany first and the Europeans are getting theirs earlier but like someone else said, perhaps they will Guinea Pig it and we’ll get the refined products with all the bells, whistles and gauges on.
Mattus, thanks for emailing Anthony Ireson – I considered it myself but you beat me to it. If the response is lacklustre, perhaps we need to express the same view in volume – nothing like a clogged up Inbox to get attention.

So at the moment, the new car buying experience sucks a bit frankly but, like many of you, I cannot escape the fact that I cannot wait to start that engine and hear the V8 growl; but there again, I am easily pleased – Jesus I’m driving a Mondeo ! Although having the forum to read is good for the soul.

Welcome to the expectant family CJ01! smile

We're all in the same uninformed, frustrated boat... but we all can't wait!

Thanks too to Matt for the email, you did what i have been procrastinating all week, but far better put!

A few murmurs today on Mustang6G about orders now showing in Ford's ordering system... i don't think it'll be long.

Nothing to add except for this:

Lowered, HRE Flowforms in Liquid Silver, blacked out indicators. It doesn't get any better. cloud9

Unless I find out it's supercharged too...

blimey this really is frustrating stuff!

It's amazing how much difference a bit of god old fashioned 'service' can do, and just how dispiriting it can be when it has been got wrong. I assume everyone here is signed up to paying list, so with that part of the pitch levelled, it should only too easy for a well versed dealer to make themselves known on the forums and just blimmin communicate with their customer base... they could very quickly become the go-to dealer of choice and roberts your father's bother.... 'easy' money!

Life is good ....the thought of a DIB V8 GT with white stripes and a Whipple SC.....

Have fun

Welcome; my deposit was £2k also.
