Does anybody know when there will be demonstrators in UK ford dealers?
Thing is, I can't bring myself to order a car I've never even sat in. I did it once and it bit me on the arse big time, so I at least want to see if the size of the thing is ok, can I get comfortable, is there anything annoying etc.
Soon as I've at least sat in one, I'll know for sure.

Do you mean just sit in one or actually drive one ? To just sit in one, there's one or two floating around dealerships now - or soon. I know that I received a flier that one of the Ford dealers in E Anglia will have one next weekend. I think one in Derbyshire also has one soon.

Mainly just to sit in one really, I'll keep an eye out for East Anglian ones for sure, that's where I am, probably ring the local ford dealership this week and see when they're getting one in.
Is the 5.0 v8 the same as what jaguar use in their xk's? I hope the infotainment screen isn't the same as the one I had in an xfr, it was bloody awful!

Ford sold JLR 7 years ago so there are no similarities.

No similarities whatsoever for either. The Sync thing in the mustang is actually pretty good.

Prices just released for GT350. Fully loaded GT350R works out at about £41k (just over £50k if you add 20% VAT), so let's say there's a small premium for UK sales - £51 - 53k OTR. All I can say is, where do I sign? bow FORD!! ..... PLEASE!! LET THE UK HAVE THIS CAR! moan

Got a call from Trust today that specs have to be hard by next Wednesday, deposit still not required (they obviously know I am a powerfully built company director) - I am wavering over hard or soft top, the raggy looks too generic it could be anything whereas the tin top looks like a mustang!

The stripe kits will be factory fitted also, they are on the options list.

Apparently, they are a £500 option and are painted (you probably new that) so the dealer informed me today.

If that indeed is the case, I can't help think, for me at any rate, that it's a pretty permanent fixture, with only two colours to choose from. I'm sure a quality vinyl would look just as effective at half the cost with a colour choice to suit most combinations.

Also, they can be removed.

When I went to my local Ford store the sales man said that he would be surprised if they had delivery of any ordered cars before May 16 and would not make any difference if I ordered now or after they have a show car in June.
Went to Bill Sheppard he has a couple of black and a white and an orange and a blue one in stock Gt's and 50 anniversary had a sit in one seemed very comfortable was not impressed with the Orange it seemed to lack punch not that shinny on a dull day they had a 1966 orange in the showroom now that was the colour they should have done. Had it running seemed to be very subdued for a V8 not like my old TVR (nothing that a Gibson will not fix). Going to Las Vegas in Aug have booked a convertible for a couple of weeks to do a road trip Up the PCH to San Francisco going to check out the colours when over there. Seeing all the spec on the imported cars feel that the UK cars are losing their edge,no vents rear lights down on power and also the dials and dash and a lot of other bits. Will order when I get back maybe. wink

If you're asking those questions I would politely suggest you spend your money on a standard Mustang + upgrades.

If you take that lower figure of £51K, that represents an increase of circa £16K over the standard car. That will pay for a whole of host of upgrades, including a supercharger, not to mention brakes & suspension that will see the "standard" car quite happily outperform the GT350. That's the plan for mine at least.

I think the GT350 is for genuine Mustang fans, which (I probably shouldn't admit on this thread!) I am not. It's nice to be able to say I own a Mustang, but they could've called it the Ford Probe and I still would've bought one. For me, it's a brand new, Ford, 5-litre V8, RWD, RHD, that happens to look pretty good too. The GT350 is only worth the premium if you care about the Shelby/Mustang thing, which I don't.

Not to mention I just don't see them making it available over here, certainly not in RHD anyway.

The GT350 is basically a 5.0 GT turned up to 10.5 .... 5.2L flat-plane crank, Tremec 'box, uprated diff, Magnaride suspension (Ford's adaptive damping technology), very cool looking revised front wings/spoiler/bonnet and lots of carbon fibre. No official power figures as yet but I think it's universally accepted that it's going to be around 550bhp with the added benefit of a significant weight saving over the standard car.

The GT350R cloud9 is the GT turned up to 11 ..... same drivetrain as the GT350 but more extreme aero package and weight saving - e.g. rear seat delete, carbon fibre wheels etc.

I'm hoping Ford decide to officially bring the car to the UK (which is why I keep banging on about it! ..... in the hope that Ford are monitoring the web to gauge potential demand rofl ). The £52k was a pessimistic stab in the dark at a potential price - looking at the dollar price of a UK GT and a similar spec car in the US, the difference is about $10k. So applying the same difference to the GT350 would mean a UK price of around £48k. My order would be transferred immediately to a 350 if it was available in RHD. Fingers crossed, but i suspect it'll be a long wait! tumbleweed

As has been quite rightly pointed out, you could easily turn your standard GT up to 12 or 13 using various Roush, Hennessey or Whipple parts for the difference in price (I saw an article about an 810bhp car the other day! .... awesome!). Personal preference I guess - but it would be nice for customers in the UK to have the choice. I'm not a die-hard Mustang fan (I've never even considered an American car before, but the new Mustang does look SO damn good!), but I much prefer the look and sound of the GT350.

Painted stripes?

That'll be a first.

Thanks for the info! smile
I'd much rather spend the 11k adding a supercharger etc, I'm not into mustangs historically or anything. Does anyone know if ford UK will offer supercharger packages etc?
I'm off to see the one at Ipswich on Sunday, looking forward to it smile

Hi guys, so there is a GT (LHD) at Allan Ford Warwick (not far off the M40). It is there today (27th May) and tomorrow (28th May) as far as I know.

I took a few (rather crap) photos this morning:

First impression is that the car is not as big as feared. The new lines have helped make the car look more coherent and tidier. It has a similar footprint to something like a Jag XF I would say.

The dealer was clueless (as we all know) but in their defence they are probably commissioned on selling cars, most of which will not be mustangs I suppose so the incentive is elsewhere. They wouldn't open the doors, boot or bonnet so no more info there.

I didn't particularly like the yellow, but I have ordered Guard (grey/green). The yellow was a bit after market looking to my eye, no real depth to the colour, I think it would benefit from stripes/black roof maybe? That's just my opinion.

Overall, headed there uncertain, headed back excited to be getting one whenever it is ready, happy to enjoy my TVR for one more summer anyway!

Has a new car ever had such a farce of a launch.

Car salesmen puzzle me for if I was one I'd make sure I was more knowledgeable than the customer.

The last two new cars I bought I knew more about the car than the salesmen.

That was Porsche and Landrover.
