Has a new car ever had such a farce of a launch.

Car salesmen puzzle me for if I was one I'd make sure I was more knowledgeable than the customer.

The last two new cars I bought I knew more about the car than the salesmen.

That was Porsche and Landrover.
For some reason i read the last bit as 'Porsche and Lawnmower' and spent 5mins laughing ..... i think it's the stress, torment and mental anguish of the whole ordering fiasco, to say nothing of the lack of GT350 wink ..... Ford, are you listening? I think this could mean a phone call to 'InjuryLawyers4u' for stress related illness compensation biggrin

As I said earlier in the thread, this is quite normal for a new car. There isn't the information out there for them to give you.

There's not a lot of incentive for them at the moment. They won't be getting paid for selling them until the car gets delivered.

Someone asked earlier about dimensions:

Length - 4783mm (188.3")

Width - 1915mm (75.4")

Height - 1382mm (54.4")

Wheelbase - 2720mm (107.1")

That's a wide car!! smile

The dealer was clueless (as we all know) but in their defence they are probably commissioned on selling cars, most of which will not be mustangs I suppose so the incentive is elsewhere. They wouldn't open the doors, boot or bonnet so no more info there.
Really surprised as I shamelessly trekked down from Leeds to Derby on Saturday just gone to visit T C Harrison where the Euro Mustang started its tour. There were people climbing all over the thing.

Agree - doesn't look as big as might be expected. Can't see the handbrake positioning being that big a deal either. Back seats really are none existent. Wasn't a fan of the yellow. Couldn't see any signs of the door alignment issues that some have complained about damaging the bodywork.

All in all, like many others, its a V8 Mustang and I came away just wanting it more than when I walked in.

Oh, and still haven't heard a thing from my dealer.

Haven't heard anything from my dealer, but not that bothered..... At the end of the day, I've joined a Mustang forum, seen all the YouTube videos, and read all the reviews....smile..... No one is slating the car in any way, most reviews are extremely positive, and aside from some minor quality issues on the interior, and a few panel alignment comments, all seems good...

I'm happy to wait my time, and learn all about the car when it's in my garage....biggrin... It would be nice to know more, but if the info ain't out there what can you do??

Is that with or without mirrors? If it's with that doesn't sounds very wide at all, it's thinner than my Megane at 2037mm.

/edit, Looked it up myself, 2080mm with mirrors in the US at least.

You lucky people who have ordered them. I hope you all post plenty of pictures on here when you get them smile
I saw a red mustang driving up the m11 towards cambrigde on sunday. I was quite surprised as i know they arent over here yet so i can only assume it was a demo car? It was travelling the oppsosite way to me but it stuck out like a sore thumb with its led lights on haha.
Also i think that yellow mustang is going to be in kent in june as there was an advert about it in this months classic american. My issues back at home so il post the actual date up later.

They'll probably blame currency drift, price of shipping or something; but it's still a bit naughty grabbing all the headlines around value early on then popping a grand on, over 6 months away from landing.

I'm going to be expect the pricing to be honored as at the time our deposit was placed... Otherwise, God knows where the price will be by the end of the year - how could we be expected to make any commitment.

All academic though, whatever the price is I'd probably still buy one... and they know it.

Relax lads. Just got a message from the sales manager telling me not to worry as the original price is what I pay. The amount locked in at the time of the deposit.

Read the small print on p.9:
"Customer Order Price Protection
Ford's Price Protection Plan means that the price you pay is the same as the price on your order as long as you are prepared to accept delivery within three months, and in any event, as soon as your vehicle is available. Your Dealer has full details of the plan. Ford Motor Company Ltd is not liable for changes in price caused by Government changes in tax rates or changes in other applicable legislation."

Hopefully they will be £40k + at launch, then we can all sell them and get that 355 we have always wanted...

They'll probably just give you the grand back as a "deposit allowance" again if you take out Ford finance...

Sorry people - I'm a techno-idiot person here so will have to respond to some posts sequentially

If you're asking those questions I would politely suggest you spend your money on a standard Mustang + upgrades.

If you take that lower figure of £51K, that represents an increase of circa £16K over the standard car. That will pay for a whole of host of upgrades, including a supercharger, not to mention brakes & suspension that will see the "standard" car quite happily outperform the GT350. That's the plan for mine at least.

........

Not to mention I just don't see them making it available over here, certainly not in RHD anyway.
I probably would hold out on the Mustang + upgrades and buy the 350, if they did bring it here - just a personal view, mind. I can't see how Ford would honour any warranty on a 550/600bhp Muzzie V8GT and that could cost some if it went wrong. The warranty would hold on a 350.

But agreed, that's a more pragmatic (boring) view.

However, that said, you are right - I don't think it is in the plans to bring one over officially.

As I have said, along with a few others, there is no info on them. Also, if you think that a car salesman actually knows the car he's selling better than enthusiasts, that would be a first.

My old man recently bought a new Mondeo - but the dealer he first went to, saw a 28-30 yr old salesman who had no idea about Mondeo's at all. When my Dad asked what his history was with this dealer, he said he joined a couple of weeks ago. Was selling PC's before that and had been for the last 5 years. He'd qualified out of Uni as an IT boff.

So now selling cars - models he had no idea about. Go figure!

The non-opening parts are normally deliberate. Frustrating, yes, but deliberate. They don't power the car up as there is no battery. I know, I know - seems odd, but I have seen many pre-launch Ford models in the same way.

Are you sure it was a RHD version ? I'd be surprised if there are any on the roads. There are only a few that are trickling through the dealers now for show - without batteries either, as per my last post.

I would have said - although, I was not there, so you could be right - this one was heading back up the USAF bases in E Anglia. That's not to say that there are Brits who don't have imports. But around the Mildenhall / Lakenheath area, there would probably be a concentration of them in relative terms.
