Read this forum with interest. Some great stuff being discussed too. I've ordered the Ecoboost, deep impact blue, shaker, heated seats but kept the black wheels. I've had my email confirmation after I placed an order at Trust Ford, Warrington in April. They rang last week to confirm spec & said that was my final opportunity as it is now on the build / order system. No news on delivery dates though.
Out of interest, what was your driver for ordering the Ecoboost over the 5.0?

I'd be interested to know how many Ecoboosts they sell, it's obviously a very personal decision but I couldn't imagine having anything but a 5.0.

rofl Yep, wish I'd known this at the start.

I ordered an Alfa 4C years ago and went through a similar roller-coaster of emotions, and in the end cancelled the order as a result. That was actually a worse launch than the Mustang believe it or not.
I can't imagine how. yikes

Still, I guess I know what to expect now IF I ever order a brand new car again.

ETA: I think you should post up the story of the 4C, if only to make all of us feel better about how bad it COULD be! wink

So, if you're pondering the stripe option be warned ..... apparently they do indeed 'fade out' at the front and rear.
I'd noticed that change with the picture showing the stripes as well .. like you I would not want the fade out ones.

Personally I would get stripes done aftermarket. Probably be cheaper as well.

That's presuming they are stick on.

Ive ordered mind in black and was thinking if i got stripes i would get them done after market at a vinyl wrap place. Im not really sure what colour stripe would look best though on a black car (apart from white). Any suggestions?

I've ordered a black one too. I think the fade out stripes look ste, so I'll go after market. My wheels will be black, I've avoided the chrome trim, and I think I'll get dark grey matt stripes, and the rear quarter window will be dark smoked too.
Now Ford, please sell me a loud exhaust and supercharger and I'll be ecstatic! 😎

I had black stripes on my black S197 as I preferred the subtle look.

Just a word of caution re. stripes. Insurers actually consider any aftermarket application as a modification (daft I know - but there you go). It may be that some insurers won't insure the car unless they are the factory fit version.

Why they've gone for the faded out stripes is anyone's guess? Need to see them in the metal (vinyl) before writing them off.

I would pretty much guarantee that they are a vinyl application, not paint as the fade would be a complete pain to paint consistently.

Good point about the vinyl vs paint. If they are vinyl then they'll be available as a part (parts support is one thing Ford is good at), so put them on later. Some of the aftermarket stuff takes a different line down the hood and look really good, and different.

DS Liverpool. Nice to hear you have ordered from same dealer. Have they taken a deposit yet off you ? They don't appear to want my money as yet despite it being offered. Will be interested to see if our orders arrive together depending on whether the V8 build takes priority over in the states ??
When I ordered they said I was the only Eco and they had taken 32 orders !!!

Foliedouce......... Ecoboost over V8 - main consideration was outlay, both initial and continued....... Couldn't justify £1k annual tax, MPG & insurance plus 310bhp will be plenty to start with for me......... Though very interested in upgrades to exhaust & cold air intakes but can only find US companies unless anyone knows of UK sites ??

As it happens I've just had an email from Gowrings saying that the Reading Ford Store are now looking after all the Mustang orders (which I thought would be the case anyway), and have been given a new contact there who will be looking after us with updates etc.

I went to see them a couple of weeks ago (mainly to check they had the order correct as the original was hand-written on a generic UK order form - it was all OK to be fair to them!), and although we weren't shown anything on the Ford US order system (and I don't have any ref number etc), they did clearly have a bundle of customer's order paperwork, and our order is now on a proper form. They were still stating the same on deliveries, i.e. after the Champions League batch, the next would be November-ish, and therefore with shipping to the UK it would be Dec/Jan (and our car should be in that batch). Certainly don't have a quoted delivery date.

As others have stated, it was also mentioned that the price had gone up £1k but we would definitely only be charged the original quoted amount from January when the order was placed.

pm me if you want to compare notes!
Hi David - my order it with Gowrings Reading (well, I say 'order' but the form just says waiting list). I imagine it was Martin who you spoke to? I had a chat to him the other week and he was very helpful - but I the struggle is that they are being given precious little info from Ford (so they're all in the same boat on that point).

Good news on the pricing too. I phoned to see if they would be honouring the price at time of deposit (as mine was pre the rise ableit a couple of months after you put yur deposit down). Martin was supposed to call me back - but failed to do so rolleyes

No deposit, not required until they have a solid build date my spec is confirmed though. DIB V8 convertible with custom pack, I will have the wheels painted if they come black I hate black wheels on cars.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the stripes were painted, but I can't believe that. I would guess that the solid stripes have been dropped in favour of the 'fade-out' option because they only need to be applied to the major surfaces - no messing about applying vinyl to the awkward bumper areas with tricky breaks across the grill and rear light panel - i.e. it's a cost saving measure. Well what do you expect for £500! smile

Funnily enough, Ford used to do official aftermarket OTT stripe kits for the 2015 Mustang in their accessories store - which didn't fade out, obviously - for around £300, but it seems they're now unavailable.

Stripes: as mentioned, ease of fitting, also I think as Ford seem to think the European market is going to see this as a GT rather than a muscle car, it's a way of allowing those customers the muscle car look without being too OTT.

Aftermarket parts: worth looking into buying from the States rather than over here; the wheels I want are circa £800 each over here yet $700 over there, so even adding on 20% for VAT, 15% for customs charges & shipping, they still work out over £500 cheaper! Considering all the other parts I'll be ordering there's no way I'm going to pay an extra £2K or so just to pay a middleman over here.

You do know the annual VED is £505, not £1K don't you? The £1K is just for the first year, which is included in the purchase price IIRC.

Also I don't think the MPG is going to be hugely different between the two engines. Obviously if you're using it as a DD then it will start to add up, but if it's only for high days and holidays...

As for insurance....ask me at Christmas! wink

Custom pack has nickel silver wheels. Not too bright, just right. Good match with DIB.

Mustang at Bill Shepherd, with proper, factory fitted OTT stripes ..... v. cool, yes?

In the grand scheme of things I realise that it's no big deal, but it makes me mad. Ford are selling these cars like hot-cakes* and must be making a shcensoredt-load of money - certainly MUCH more than they anticipated - and we get a crap options list and unbelievable penny-pinching on the small amount of stuff we can get.

Yes, I know I shouldn't be moaning and I am looking forward to getting the car, but this kind of thing (along with all the other small things we didn't get like Recaros etc) just leaves me feeling a bit disappointed when I should be really excited. I know from talking to guys at the launch event the other day that the Mustang has attracted quite a few people to the Ford brand who otherwise wouldn't have given them a second look (me being one of them). I wonder how many won't be coming back? ..... GT350 aside, I won't rage

(* - nearly 14,000 in the US in May alone. Not sure what the average price is, say $30k, so simple maths tells us that's around $420 million in sales in one month for one model of car! Before anyone says it, yes I know the economics aren't that simple but whichever way you slice it, that's a lot of money.)

..... oooooh, apologies for the rant - I must have got out of bed the wrong side this morning smile

Not actually spoken yet, but that's the name that's been passed on - think you're right re. the lack of info, Ford seem to not be helping the dealers too much...

Ford guy today told me stripes were painted on. Delivery in 12 months time (roughly) if a deposit left today.

Must say I was tempted. Took some photos but they were outdoor and not worth really posting.
