HELP! I CAN'T IDENTIFY MY ENGINE!

I have bought an F3 1949 Pickup to restore
I had what I thought was a Mustang engine but
The casting marks on the block don't look like
anything I can find on Fords or Chevys!
It has:

W
AK27

Any help appreciated

I think its a Ford Windsor or FE. Are there any other stampings/numbers etc?

ETA: ref oil filter placement, sounds like an FE:

It looks like the lower picture engine but the oil filter sticks out horizontally
and the rocker box is a rectangle shape and not curved!
