Sumpoil - no, I haven't explored the full range of revs yet,but I am building up to it! I am very cautious giving it too much around here as there are lots of coppers and I don't want my nice new shiny Florida licence being sullied. The breaking in procedure appears to be virtually non existent, though, so I am may start building up quickly towards the magi de 8,000 rpm point! The tvr was rev limited well below that...

Regarding the situation here, people are still desperately trying to get hold of them. My local dealer has one in stock but he wants 25k over. This is not uncommon. Plenty are saying that when the 2017 becomes available the ADMs will disappear on the 2016s but I am not so sure: the dealerships often don't seem to mind having a Shelby hanging around the showroom as they are rather pretty, so they are not bothered about waiting to sell. Further, there's no real idea about how many years the 350 will be made, or even how many they will make each year. An awful lot of people think it will only be a 2 year run, but we will have to wait and see.

All in all, there are a lot more questions than answers. However, I wish you good luck in getting one! If I see any msrp deals going I will let you know.

Cheers.

The msrp deals might come along at some point, mor there's always the second hand market. Assuming a GT500 comes out and becomes the latest/greatest thing maybe some people will sell their GT350s. Currently there are a glut of second hand ones on eBay,mall being sold by people trying to make a few grand.

Yes, the second hand market was an option I had in reserve - but as you say, as time goes on maybe a few more msrp deals will be come along, especially when the GT500 appears. If that ends up being a twin turbo V6 (if the rumours are to be believed) then it's not going to appeal to me like the FPC V8 does so it might put me in the slightly better position of wanting the 'second best' Mustang. I've also heard that Ford are stopping dealers from selling 350's for export so I might not be able to get my hands on one even if I can find one at msrp!

Cheers for the info, very useful to get first hand intelligence. Hope the weekend weather lets you get out and have some fun smile.
The dealers are indeed briefed not to sell for export; some buyers have even said they were asked to sign something saying they wouldn't take cars abroad! I wasn't. Apparently a company called Geiger in Germany might have some...

Good luck!

£87k for the Bill Shepherd one then? Yikes! That said, isn't their Shelby GT £80k? I think the GT350 is a lot more car for not much more money.

That said, as you rightly point out, it's way more than in the US, and it's not an R. However, the regular 350 is as rare as the proverbial rocking horse turd and the R is even harder to get hold of. People are paying way, way over for it. They are paying a premium to be the first to own the car,Manucho is exactly what Bill Shepherd are hoping will happen in the UK.

I am pretty sure their one is a regular 350 with a tech or track pack. That means that it would have cost them approx $62k (with approx 6% sales tax stateside). If you apply 10% import duty and 20% vat and convert to sterling using 1.43 it comes to roughly £52k. Add to that maybe £3k for shipping and IVA and you have a very healthy profit!

Someone will buy it, though!

I agree about the high prices. That said, I think he is 'safe' for now because the US dealerships are also charging very high prices. There are plenty of cars just sitting on the lots, priced well above sticker. Maybe that will change when the 2017s start coming out; maybe not, especially if '17 is the final year. Until grey imports start making it to the UK it's going to be a very rare car and I assume that Bill Shepherd think someone will pay for that scarcity.

Funnily enough I got an email from Bill Shepherd Mustang this morning - the 350 is £84,500.

Regarding second hand ones, they are coming up but are still above MSRP

I am sure they will come down in price to some extent.

The US dealers almost all advertise the GT350s at list price. However, when you actually go to the dealership to take a look...

Eg http://garysmithfords.com/Fort-Walton-Beach-FL/For...

Actual price is over $80k.

Just to add my ten pence worth...

I was lucky enough to get a 2016 GT350 when the pound was stronger. I intend to bring it to the UK with me in 2017/18. I understand that the warranty will be void by doing so, but don't think for one moment that there will be an official import. The demand in the US is so strong that I don't think they could cope with Building any more each year Additionally, Ford has a track record for two year production runs of its 'special' cars. A lot of people over here think a GT500 will be along soon.

I believe that the car will be scarce in the UK and hope that this will keep its value up in case I decide to sell. I have tried to keep an eye out for any selling back home and have only heard of one, which went for well over US list price...

Top work getting an R - that is surely going to be the only one in the UK? I am Working on getting a 2017 to go with my 2016 but can't really afford both. It would be cool to bring two back though! I am trying to get an R actually but the dealer - after initially thinking they could get one - now thinks they can't. However, Ford haven't confirmed anything. A common story, apparently.

Keith. The dealer that I bought my car from had a second White/Blue R coming in a couple of weeks ago, do you want to me to ask if it's still available?
Yes please (assuming you mean me!). Do you know if he will be charging an ADM?

Thanks.

Kev.

Sorry Kev, yes I meant you. I will ask the question. There will be a substantial ADM
No worries Nick, and thanks. ADM probably puts it out of my price bracket (along with all the other Rs) but you never know. I think I can get a regular 2017 350 at MSRP so I may have to consider selling my existing one first as I doubt I can get two back to the UK!

Very, very nice. Will you let me know how you get on with getting her road legal, please? Same colour scheme as mine, except those little red bits, of course!

Safely back in Sussex after trailering back from Liege in Belgium. All I need now if for the weather to clear. The roads around here are bad enough in the dry!

Nick,

How are you getting in with your R, assuming it's road legal now? Speaking of which, do you mind letting me know the details of how you went about it etc etc? Also, is the US warranty with your car in any way valid in the UK? I am keen to get any info I can ahead of bringing mine back next year.

PM is good if that works for you.

Cheers,

Kevin.

I saw this one in a post on MOCGB. £40k seems pretty steep considering the damage. I have no idea what it will cost to fix GT350 bodywork in the UK but I doubt it will be easy or cheap!
