I moved out of NI a few years back - i sell US cars and bikes to the US military in Italy - so we got ( iirc) 20 of them, which were lottery-ed out. I wasnt lucky enough!
we were told the R wasnt even being released, they were gone instantly.
Do you work for MAS? I was desperately trying to get involved with the lottery but left theatre before it was up and running. At that point I was considering paying an ADM for the car but after a fair bit of research found one at MSRP. My order was placed quite some time ago but it has a very low priority level and is still listed as being on 'material hold'. My fingers remain firmly crossed...we were told the R wasnt even being released, they were gone instantly.

Knickers! .... for a moment I thought I'd discovered a magical way to get a GT350 into the UK! we were told the R wasnt even being released, they were gone instantly.
Thanks for the info Myles, much appreciated. Back to the drawing board for my GT350 plans then ..... looks like in all probability I'll have to import one myself (unless by some miracle Ford decide to do the decent thing!). I've heard that if you own a vehicle State-side for 12 months you don't have to pay import duty in the UK, do you happen to know if this is true?

I believe that if you own a car for six months in the USA you won't need to pay import duties as long as you don't sell the car within twelve months of arriving home. That's what I am pegging my hopes on. Thanks for the info Myles, much appreciated. Thanks Strat ..... that's interesting news. 6 months isn't too bad, could put it in storage in the States. Certainly would have no intention of selling it ...... .....

Sadly, that is only partly correct, the DVLA have closed that particular loophole if it ever existedFrom the DVLA website, https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/...
"If you’re moving to the UK
You don’t pay VAT or duty on a vehicle imported from outside the EU if you qualify for transfer of residence relief. To qualify you must meet all of these conditions:
you’re moving your normal home to the UK
your normal home was outside the EU for a continuous period of at least 12 months
you’ve owned and used the vehicle for at least 6 months outside the EU
you didn’t get the vehicle under a duty-free or tax-free scheme
you’re going to keep the vehicle for your personal use for at least 12 months
To get the tax relief, fill in form form C104A and give it to customs when you enter the country".

Yes, all true. As returning UK military I will be ble to benefit from this despite the Government making it harder. From the DVLA website, https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/...

Bringing the thread back to life to see if anyone had any luck importing one these?
Unless you're living in the US (or the Middle East, apparently), are a US serviceman (or woman), are Carroll Shelby's Grandson, know someone on first name terms with Bill Ford or filthy-stinking rich it's unlikely that you're even going to be able to get your hands on a car at the moment. The first factory deliveries have only just started and they're currently selling as many as they can make in the States (most of the dealers charging a premium on the price too, which apparently is allowed in the US).I was going to wait until late next year when hopefully the initial rush of buyers State-side has dropped off and dealers will no longer be able to get away with charging thousands over MSRP.

Bill Shepherd say they are getting one in January. They don't know what the price will be yet...
I would estimate £85k, but seeing it at £100k wouldn't surprise me.sumpoil said:

Sounds like we are all in the same boat. I too am eagerly awaiting the uk rhd S550 GT350.
Ive been tempted to just go down the dealership and order a GT, but with the success of the S197 gt500 and how the prices haven't dropped, a 350 is even more of a solid investment.
I'm looking to replace my 911 daily drive with the S550 as my kids are now toddlers and growing legs!! Can eek them out for another year in the back of the porka so hoping by then the 350 will be here or least in the pipelines!!
Hopefully it won't be a £80k car and will be nearer the 50 mark
Fingers crossed for us all

.... I read this and got so excited a little bit of wee came out ...... pass the tena for men ..... again Could it possibly happen? Bit odd to say the GT350 would be a better option than the R though. Breaking it down to the basics, the choice is between a faster Mustang and an EVEN faster Mustang. There's clearly only one choice!
