Anyone hoping to import a 2016 GT350 to the UK?

can you switch out the crank to a flat plane?
The 5.2 in the GT350 is different top to bottom compared to the normal 5.0 - so I expect 'no' is the answer. The crankcase would be different for starters.More detail here:

I went to the USA in Jan specifically to see and order the GT-350.
I found a dealer with two in stock looking for $5000 over MSRP
With the trackpack that put the car at $63k.
However after seeing it in the flesh i was put off by the poor finish, the front and rear bumpers hadn't been fitted properly and the gap varied (not good) the black plastic side splitters have been moulded to have a carbon look but the finish is awful.
I would leave it at least until the 2017 model is released by then all this would have been sorted and the prices would be normal list or below

I have heard quite a bit of feedback about dodgy finishing. Plenty have had issues with the paint job (often dried drips of paint that haven't been tidied up), ill-fitting panels and 'bent' stripes. I believe that the QC has now improved. I hope so, anyway - mine has just been released for shipment! Despite these issues, I haven't yet heard of a single person that isn't chuffed to bits with their GT350.
Regarding the Bill Shepherd machine: they didn't state what model/ spec. Actually, I am a little surprised they are getting one as I keep reading that the car is Usa (yeah ok plus Canada and Mexico) only. Further, some buyers here are saying that Ford made them sign an agreement not to export the vehicle after purchase.

I think it will be a good few months before there are any cars for sale at a dealer without the premium. Hopefully if it does come to Europe the QC will take a step up, as it did with the GT. As you say, with a bit of luck the problems will be ironed out by the time we get to MY2017.I found a dealer with two in stock looking for $5000 over MSRP

Interesting news from Strat. Can/would Ford put an export embargo on a vehicle they have sold? Surely they have no control over what happens once the car belongs to someone else? ..... and if they have, why would Bill Shepherd be allowed to have one? If true I guess there are two ways to interpret it - they don't want cars outside North America, full-stop .... or .... they don't want cars outside North America, yet . Interesting stuff.

aaaaand it has been denied...lol.
That sounds VERY frustrating. Would have been good to get some first hand feedback ..... especially on that engine! Will you get another chance of an allocation in the future do you think? There are currently 2 sitting in Germany looking for owners, but after that who knows! IIRC Ford will concentrate on the new Raptor release....
Well, she arrived yesterday. The GT350 is an absolute beast! Sounds even better than my old TVR, although I must say the acceleration doesn't feel as brutal (even though I am pretty sure the 350 accelerates quicker). Weather has been terrible so haven't really been able to drive her beyond bringing her home from the dealer.

Wow! ..... you lucky boy! ..... I'm green with envy Any photos?Does it sound as good as it seems to in all the videos? I'm still hoping against hope that us folks in the UK gets a chance to buy one soon.
Enjoy! .....
Thanks! I will post some photos when the weather improves! There was torrential rain when I brought her home which wasn't a great environment for my first drive, especially since I've never driven LHD manual before. The car sounds amazing especially when sport mode is selected.
Hopefully the Florida summer will arrive early so I can get out and about.
The dealer was superb - they kept in touch with me throughout a 'difficult' delivery period (sat for 11 days in a train car in Birmingham Al) and chatting to them upon collection I quickly realised there was never any question of them screwing me like some other dealers have done to others. So if any of you buy a car in Alabama I can highly recommend Johnson Ford in Atmore.

12 December and not yet in Texas? Blimey that's a long time. Sorry to hear that. My dealer were very proactive - calling the haulage and rail companies several times a day for updates and getting them to promise to prioritise the 350. Apparently there were 20 railcards all full of Ford vehicles stuck there, awaiting release from the rail company. I.e. not actually Ford's fault but reflecting badly on them nonetheless
