Am I the only one that prefers the pony on the back rather than GT? I know it's a denotes a lower spec car, but I don't care about that.

I wonder how easy it would be to retrofit a pony.

I prefer the pony. I have a 2013GT and am watching ebay for the pony decklid, on the s197's the Boss 302 also had the pony decklid, I feel the pony emblem is iconic. If you watch us ebay for 2015 decklids there was a ton of them a few days ago when I looked. Most things on mustangs are very easy to swap out, it is a Mr Potatoe head car as my wife calls it.

It'll only be stuck on, the same as the faux filler cap on the S197.

I'm with you. Presumably there's only one pressing for a deck lid so emblems should be interchangeable.

Found some instructions on another forum:-

Rear Pony or GT or 50 year disc:

- plastic-welded to the black glossy decklid
- pop the trunk
- remove the trunk deck liner
- disconnect backup camera
- remove 4 bolts
- remove the black glossy decklid (PULL HARD on one side, then the other)
- use a utility knife to cut the spots of melted plastic holding the emblem
- I used a punch to tap out the pins after
- Warning, deck looks terrible with 4 holes. Consider getting a replacement logo, replacement deck piece, or Plasti-Dipping the stock logo instead of removing it.

It gets better. $139 for a genuine Ford Racing blank deck lid.

I like the blank piece but how much is gonna cost after postage, VAT and import duty.

It would be cheaper to take your rear deck to someone over here who could fill the holes and respray it.

I paid $250 total for a Ford Racing Decklid and Pony emblem with colour tribar (the 06 Pony Pack fender one – drivers side) with post and packing. This equated to £170. There were no additional charges for duty, VAT etc. They arrived in one week in the Ford Racing box which was inside a huge CJ Pony Parts box (so if you haven’t broken the news at home………..). CJ PP have a wide range of shipping options. The panel is fitted with threaded inserts, sealing strips etc so is a direct swap for the one you take off.

There will be a market for the original panel with gas cap because in the States it only comes on “limited” editions, and they seem to like it (along with white tail lights!). I intend to keep the original to put back on if I sell; which of course I won’t. If you want to use the panel as a blank be aware there is a very slight dimple about 1cm across in the dead centre of these panels. Some regard this as a huge carbuncle but mine is quite hard to see unless you view it an angle against the light. It’s due to the plastic injection point on the back, and of course is normally covered by an emblem.

That's not too bad actually

I think I'm going for the normal running horse on mine. I've looked on CJ's website and can only find one for the grille not the deck lid. I'll have to call them next week to see if it fits on the back.

That will work, but I think you have to do more mods on a grille emblem because it's designed to mount into the grille moulding rather than onto a panel. I think it's a nice reversible mod. If all else fails Ford US must sell the normal pony deck lid emblem as a spare (unless they sell it complete with panel).
