You can't really argue with lighter weight, bigger engine and better handling.
0-100 in 9.3 for the SS was C5 Z06 territory not that long ago and even the V6 runs the quarter in 13.8, the same as (I achieved in) my old LS1 Camaro.

Look forward to Ford's response.

You could just get a 2013-2014 gt with a track pack, same weight as the new camaro, save yourself $20k, looks way better and $5k mods would destroy the new camaro.

a) You're comparing new with used.
b) I'm not so sure, the last Camaro Z28 was epically fast round the 'Ring. It's not all about straight lines nowadays.

However, no RHD or even official import come to that.

From that perspective, I'm very happy with the S550 smile

Motor Trend is always bias to Camaros... Also the old SS was meant to be way faster than the Mustang but the Stabdard Gt used to smash the SS on handling and straight line runs with ease... Figures on paper don't mean much just pub bragging rights some companies understate other go far and beyond, i will wait to see them in Real Life

Personally the Camaro is a horrible car and wouldn't consider it, much prefer the Stang and Challenger

Hardly.
The Mustang was capable of being "slightly" faster in the MT test because it weighed a lot less.
However, the Car and Driver test has the Mustang slower.
Each picks a different winner so it's fair to say it comes down to personal preference.
Old tests:

You should also look up tests on the last Z28 which was extremely good in the handling and braking department, albeit you paid for the privilege.

However, that was the last generation and we are talking about the new generation where the weight advantage the Mustang used to have has been reversed so the tables have been turned in that respect. As it points out, lighter weight and more power is not something you can argue with.

Of course, I take the point on the S550 being RHD but, for many, including me, that is a minus, not a plus.

Official import Q3/Q4 2016 - I'm in touch with the dealer network but as you say, no RHD. Chevy don't care, so the car won't work here. Same as the 5th Generation. Ford are doing it right (mostly) by simply putting the wheel in on the right (customer service, spec etc are up for debate). smile
