Been to look at a 66 Coupe today - nice solid car in a colour I like with Pony interior - drives nicely.

US resto so paint OK and clean buy not UK resto standard. Some minor filler in tops of sills and into roof guttering.

Nice and clean inside and pretty much all there - just a good solid car which looks lovely on the road.

I wont be able to keep it garaged for the next year though - it would have to live on my drive under an outdoor cover.

Not sure whether to buy or not! They are such a unique (ie old) driving experience, I don't know if I'd love it or hate it after the initial excitement wore off!

But no road tax and cheap insurance so if I don't get on with it I'm sure it wouldn't bankrupt me??

help!!

One word of warning if keeping it outside with a ar cover invest in a carcoon or something, I recently saw a guy who spent all his money on a nice yank that had been restored state side, he needed to keep it outside while having the garage modified and sadly the paint blistered all over th car, theres something about keeping a car under a cover in the damp conditions that can ruin a car, in this case it looked like when it was painted there was some moisture in the paint and while being kept under a car cover in damp uk it blistered all over, so if investing in a car please do the same in a carcoon or similar, ps go for it biggrin

Go for it.

An old Mustang needn't feel too old to drive regularly in company with modern cars.

Carcoon is no hassle by the way, just looks like you have an airstream on the drive. It needs power fairly near and to be a bit secluded for wind and what not but other than that they are pretty easy to live with.

Go for it !!! I can honestly say that these cars give you a feeling to drive like nothing else can. You feel like you are doing a public service when you take them out as the public give you so much love when you cruise past. I am not bragging but I used to work for, Ferrari and when I drove those or any of the other modern super cars none of them gave me the feeling of pride and appreciation these cars did. When my wife took my newly purchased Mach 1 out she said the feeling was nearly overwhelming. So so cool. You have to do it to really appriciate it. So what if you need to do a bit of work later, they are going up in price anyway!

Buying a car like this you should know immediately, if you don't instantly know then it is probably not the right car for you.
