As much as I want a V8 doing 24,000 miles a year is going to be very expensive ownership. I've driven a V8 and love it but none of the dealers have a 2.3 to drive. Can somebody take me out in theirs for a drive so I can make up my mind, stop faffing about and place an order.

Can't help you with the drive as I'm a few hundred mile away but
I had the same dilemma, using it for work and putting miles on I went for the ecoboost. love my car, it's easier to drive, lighter, better weight distribution, lacks the V8 sound obviously but get over that and it's still a bloody quick & capable car. 27mpg round the town, 37mpg on a run, I've done just over 2100 mile in mine so far.

Doing those sort of miles in a V8 would be crippling, unless you have deep pockets

There's a post just gone on the owners club website to say Allen Ford have a couple of ecoboost fastbacks in stock for sale. Swindon not too far from you?

I phoned them but the cars are allocated to buyers and not available to be driven, so I've given up and ordered a V8 from Trust Ford in Bristol as they are much closer.

Thanks for all your help.

Enjoy the V8, that is the only 'proper' engine for a Mustang!
