I'm really leaning towards one of these 662hp monsters but am concerned about residuals. Is it likely the new RHD UK v8s despite being a different animal will adversely affect prices of the older cars?

UK prices for these cars will probably hold pretty well as they have already had a bug depreciation from 2013 when they first hit the roads. It's the very last 5.8 I think feel free to correct me, so this should help keep its value. My old car is still in Surrey and the owner might be willing to discuss a deal if you are interested.

Having had the gt500 and a general 2 and 4 viper I can say they are awesome cars. Epends what your budget is and what you are looking for in overall performance. As vipers tend to get lots of mods as do mustangs generally, but prices for a gen 2 viper are roughly the same as a 5.8 gt500. The viper being my personal preference but it is very far behind that if an interior of the 5.8 if that is important to you.

Pm me with what you are looking for and I can help you look, I just sold my gen 2 viper so I can't offer that sadly.

An interesting question. The lhd GT500 is a very different beast from the bog standard Mustang and given its rarity, I would think prices would be unduly affected by the new cars.

Dealer prices seem to reflect this:

51 State Autos hase a 2011 car for £44k and Bill Shepherd Mustang has a new unregistered 2014 car for £65.5k which is a lot of money but the same price as new V6S F Type. Given the good reputation of both dealers, I would have thought either of these cars would be safe purchases.

And it's worth noting that Bill Shepherd has just sold one of the new lhd GT350s for £84.5k.

The 2011 and 2014 are completely different cars performance wise.

Very fast and even faster! 5.4l car added as an example of dealer pricing.

The bill shepherd car is perfect but too expensive for me. Would definitely want the 5.8. The Braintree car looks nice at £49k

That gt500 bill shepherd has is nice but he has been trying to sell it for a long time over 2 years I think now. If you want a decent gt500 with low miles then there will be plenty for sale in the USA just take a look on eBay. Shipping and tax is a big chunk but not difficult to get one imported. Plenty of choice that way too, companies that do everything for you so all you have to do is buy it and tell them where to pick it up and then they get it on the road here for you.

Which is a great plan, depending on the size of that big chunk. Can I import one for less than £50k all in?

If you can get this for as close to $50k as possible it will work out to around £50k.

As to my old car I did spend about £10k on upgrading it, Ford racing 15" front brake disks which were 10 lbs lighter, baer extreme rear brake upgrade to 6 piston calipers and 14" disks, steeda lowering springs, Magna flow back boxes and a X pipe cat delete, k&n filter, cervini hood, Jon Lund race tune, Ford racing throttle body, mcleod clutch upgrade to handle up to 1000 bhp, rear view camera, rear window tint. On top of the st pack reccaro upgrade seat's, track pack. Depending on if you use the X pipe or not it can be set up at 660bhp stock all the way up to 780 bhp! It's a monster and I would think the owner would part with it as he mentioned he wanted a classic so he could entertain and offer.

Ok I'm now thinking seriously about this again. There are none for sale anywhere currently - anyone know different? Importing has got to be too expensive right now surely with our feeble £?

I also like the look of the 2013/14 Boss 302: is this one too good to be true at this price?

It's been altered a bit so less like the 302, also wonder why it doesn't have the recaro seats I believed these were standard on a boss but I might be wrong on that.

My friend still has the Shelby gt500 of you would like to talk to him, there is a big difference in how fast the cars are as the boss is 200 bhp less stock.

Look on AutoScout24 for cars in Europe, only problem is doing the conversion and registration here which is time and cost against cars already here. Same with looking at usa cars, but pound is not great and still have to pay vat duty and registration
