End of the Viper

It is sad but to me what is more sad is the fundamental reason its dying. The buying public want cars that drive themselves, cars with turbos and no personality and cars that are completely and utterly silent.
And I don't understand any of this. I take my car to an event or I just I park it up somewhere and the most common thing you here is some little scrote saying 'rev it!' I can't imagine hordes of drunk twits at Le Mans watching the Teslas doing burnouts as they enter the event or a future Viper owner popping onto the forum and asking if he can retro fit start-stop... So with all of this imbued passion I don't get why a computer powered Datsun or a souped up milk float or even a hairdryer strapped to a generator are selling at higher price tags than this characterful, imposing and beautiful car.

When it first came out, I wrote to the company and got loads of colour brochures from them including a very large cut away picture, which must be almost 3ft long and about 2 and a half ft high, cost a bomb to have it framed in non reflective glass for my sons bedroom, also bought him a hood badge from the states for his birthday.
Had the pleasure of sitting in one as well during a visit to Vancouver some years ago. I believe there is annual convention in California when loads of the. Parade up and down the main road.

True Dave they have a habit of stopping then coming back. I think the reasons this time might be a bit more permanent sadly, restrictions on the car manufacturers is forcing the end of cars like the viper. Coupled with the money side of it, the viper has never been a big production numbers car and not made the company money like the vetted has for gm. I am trying desperately hard to afford a new acr-E before they stop, just need to sell my kidney as I already sold my soul to get my current viper

Only cost a few dollars just after the first Viper came out, bought direct from the factory in Detroit, non reflective glass and frame cost about £70 odd quid, well worth it though.They also,chucked in some very nice brochures about the design and build, and stuff on Carol Shelby involvement. (Hope I spelt his name correct) (probably not)
