After having owned a V10 and a V8, I couldn't possibly go back to a V6.

Evening sir. I would say, what are your reasons for having the mustang? If it's your personal car, the mustang you always promised yourself then get the v8. If it's just a daily run about the 3.7 v6 is good enough. It can get around high 30's mpg on UK motorway and is over 300bhp.

The old v6 4.0 is a dawg.

You will find plenty of high bhp 3.7's on youtube. I've only been in one v6 and it sounded odd. I'm not used to v6's so I can't say if it's the classic v6 sound.

If you can afford it, V8 everytime.

I've driven the 3.7 v6 and it's got no power to be honest, compared to the performance of the viper and vette you will always be wondering why it's so slow and spongy. I loved the gt500 I had which was very fast and felt better but even that was vastly outdone by my 02 gts. if you want a cruiser with a bit of poke and something to tinker with get the v8 bolt on the supercharger and listen to the whine as you stomp your foot.

You'll have to research the specs but V6s used to be the economy level entry so you got smaller brakes, open diffs and they used to lack a rear sway bar.
Power-wise, the new V6 is as good as the old 4.6 V8 but will always be a V6 and will always be harder to sell, later down the line.
