Haven't posted on PH for some time, so thought it was about time I did an update....

Back in Feb 2015 I ordered a new Mustang GT.
I collected it on 31st March 2016 (it was a long wait)

Guard Grey (green)

Saddle interior

Auto

The first day I got it I fitted a new Borla touring exhaust and tinted out the tail lights..

Then I fitted all LED's. Wherever I could

Then I plastidipped all my emblems

Next was a lowering kit (Steeda) updated arb's subframe lockout kit

Car was handling and riding much nicer on the new suspension

And the mods continue....managed to pick up a GT350 steering wheel

Then we get to the biggest mod so far...

NEW WHEELS

Next was a US spec lower grill..

And then a GT350 rear spoiler, painted to match

And then a few weeks ago I hit 10000 miles

I've just had an SCT tuner arrive, and I'm waiting on a Roush cold air intake, next big mod will be long tube headers and green cats..

So what's it been like??.... well the mileage I've done tells me I've really enjoyed owning and modifying this car.
It's been 100% reliable, and even fuel economy isn't that frightening, I've averaged 24mpg..

I've had a couple of minor warranty issues, that have been sorted quickly by the Ford dealer

But all in all, bang for buck, this is one of the best cars I've owned.....thumbup

I think it looks excellent and I'd definitely be happy with 24mpg out of one of these! smile

How did you alter the rear lights?
It sounds silly I know, but I really do not like the standard UK rear lights. The red lights just seem to make the car look like a proper Mustang. The wheels look nice too.

Impressive work. I've got a last of the 5th generation 2014 GT V8 and keep meaning to put new wheels on it at least... what did you do with your old stock wheels?

Hi,
The wheels look great. I am looking at the moment but don't recognise the ones you have. Would you mind letting me know what wheel/tyre set up you have. I am considering Velgen VMB 9's 20" all round but they are bloody expensive. Also Niche do some nice ones slightly cheaper but I am still not 100% and think that yours look much nicer. Cheers !!

I've got them back on the car for winter..smile But I'll be putting them in storage when Ithe tyres are shot... they're worth next to nowt second hand, so may as well put them back in the car whenever I come to sell..

These are project 6G from "needforspeed" in the US...

10x19f with 275/35 and 11x19r with 295/35.... they also com in 20" with the same widths..

No spacers required, and no rubbing or anything..(car is lowered 1")

You can run 10" all around if you like, and fit 285/35. They call this a Square set up, and it allows you to swap front to rear for better wear..

Needforspeed have also introduced this same wheel but with 5 spokes, which looks pretty smart..

Cost was about $1600 shipped. I got the tyres in the UKsmile

Nice car and nice mods. I notice your car has the galloping horse badge on the back. This is normally found on the Ecoboost and one of the ways of telling the cars apart (when the engine is not running!) The 5.0s should have a GT badge on the back. Did you ask for this as a factory mod or did it just come like this?

I love the colour! It really changes depending on the light. Similar to my car that can either look green or almost black in some light.

Good stuff. Must admit I prefer the pony too but as I've ordered the Ecoboost I won't have to change! I'm loving your mods but the most I've considered is a wheel upgrade. I've not even got the car yet but found some 20" wheels going cheap on ebay. They are 9x20 but have a 35 offset instead of 45 on the standard cars so will stick out 10mm more. I've also got 255/35/20 Pirelli P Zeros ready to fit. However, I later realised that the Mustang has a 70.5mm centre bore as opposed to 66.1mm of these wheels! Bummer, seems these wheels were intended for the Nissan 350/370Z or some Infiniti models. Not a massive problem, I just need to machine the bore by a couple of mm. I put a bid in and managed to get the set for £370 inc delivery! These are standard width and square set up so more suited to the Ecoboost I suppose, but will fit any with the bore machined. For anyone interested in the last set here's the link:-

Different wheels and lower ride height are the biggest visual impacts for any car. Top work looks great.

Hi Quinny,
I don't suppose you know the offset of the rear's do you. I know that for a square set up on 20" x 10" you need +40mm but not sure of an 11" wide wheel. I don't want them to rub. It is also nice to know that a 295 will fit the 11" rim as once you get to 305 and above they cost an absolute fortune. Thanks for all the info by the way.

Hi John...the offsets for the 10" fronts is 35mm and for the 11" rears its 50mm...

If you go square, you have to go with the 10" as the 11" will rub up front..

There are loads of guys in the US running the 10" square with 285/35..... some are running 19's and some 20's... No reported issues regarding poke or rubbing etcsmile

Oh by the way here's my next Mod......Long tube headers smile

I went with Streetfighter from Australia...:

In Aus these are supplied with 100cell cats, and the headers will match up with either a Streetfighter cat back or standard system or an after market catback like Borla...;)

I didn't want the 100 cell cats, so SF supplied me 200cell, but that means I now have to get the headers to meet up with my Borla.

Following a bit of research I've found a smashing local guy who's a car nut and is happy to make up the necessary pipes to get the headers to fit the Borla.... he even offered me the use of his ramp:
Oh and he has a track day Peugeot with a turbo charged Honda Vtec pushing 400bhp and 1100kgs

Anywho today I asked him to weld the flanges onto the cats, so that when I fit the headers I can bolt them straight up....

Here's a few pics
